I’ve got most of ds’s presents - there’s just 2 more that we want to get him and a couple more stocking fillers and then he’s all done 🤗

There’s a few more things that I want to get dp but his birthday isn’t long after so I’ll probably get a couple more things and then get my other ideas for his birthday 🤔 I still need to get half of his stocking fillers and some pjs, a snack, a drink and a bauble for his Christmas Eve box but other than that I’m pretty much done 😝

I think I’ve finished getting my parents presents but there are a couple more things that I’ve seen for them so I will have to see what I can afford but I am technically done 🙈🤷‍♀️

I still need to decide what to get my Grandma and a couple of friends and then there’s just ds’s friend and their sibling but I think I know what I’m getting them both 😁

There’s still a few things to get for dp’s family but I’ve even managed to get him to start shopping early this year so at least he doesn’t still need everything for everyone 😂

I was all done, wrapped and delivered, cards written and given out along with all October and December birthday gifts mid last month! 😆 (But only because my family live a few hours away, I won't see them again until next year and it saved me a fortune in shipping!).

I feel a bit lost now everyone is talking about Christmas. And I'll be on my own Christmas day again - plays mournful tune on small violin feeling sorry for myself...

Insidenumber09 · 19/10/2023 00:14

Well reading your post you’re not nearly done at all you’ve listed loads you have got to get yet lol 😂

mondaytosunday · 19/10/2023 02:11

Almost done? Sounds like you've barely started!
I haven't done much - I need to do our Christmas cards, I've ordered some of the presents and have had them sent directly to my sister where we will be staying. Feels weird not to do a Christmas food shop for once.
Most importantly need to sort the animals out as let down by sitters.

Ragwort · 19/10/2023 03:02

I've culled my gift buying so much that I only now buy for one friend (sorted) and stick a £20 note in a card for a young relative under 18 Grin.
So present buying is sorted but I start my cards in November .. send quite a lot so like to do it over a few evenings with carols in the background whilst drinking mulled wine.

Mummumgem · 19/10/2023 03:58

I was just thinking I need to get advent calendars for the children and grandchildren ( yes I still buy my children calendars 🙄)

that’s as far as I’ve got with Christmas 😮

I have made the pudding and cakes I suppose

Nagado · 19/10/2023 05:02

Everything is on schedule. I’ve still got to buy vouchers for my mum, do the wrapping and a little bit of poncing but everything else is done. The vouchers are budgeted for in next months wages, we like to wrap when the tree is up and listening to Christmas music so that will be done in December (wrapping paper & sticky tape is bought and ready to go) and the poncing will take a couple of hours. Everyone else is bought for, all meat is ordered and paid for and the non fresh stuff will be bought over the next couple of months with the normal shopping, depending on use by dates.

Smiffette · 19/10/2023 05:11

This is the most organised I've been in a few years..... I am done buying but need to wrap. I have just started maternity leave so had to make sure I bought everything g out of my last pay to make sure I wasn't financially stretched!

I do always try and get everything done by early November because I love Christmas and once presents are bought and done and I'm not worrying about that, I can really get into all the Christmas atmosphere!

MintJulia · 19/10/2023 05:14

I'm impressed. I've just worked out what ds might like. I haven't got beyond that.

I usually start in half term 😊

HollyBollyBooBoo · 19/10/2023 05:32

I mean you're not really 'nearly done' though are you with that to do list!

On track here, DD keeps changing her mind about some gifts which is annoying. Also think she hasn't quite realised that as she gets older and wants more expensive things she won't have as much to open.

Wrote the menu for the 4 days we're entertaining and sorted out the freezer yesterday, need to try and make some some to start putting Xmas bits in.

Vates · 19/10/2023 05:38

I am very happy this year as the 8 adults I am spending Christmas with decided on a Secret Santa, got someone who is easy to buy for and it arrived through the post yesterday. £15 limit which really takes the pressure off money wise!

Already sorted my penpal's gifts too so just my Nephew and Niece to buy for now. They are 6 and 2 and it is easy to find things they would like.

Already agreed with Best Friend not buying gifts this year (didn't last year either) because of money worries.

Got to get Christmas cards and wrapping paper but this year I don't feel stressed at all which is great.

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 19/10/2023 06:57

I'm not done, nowhere near!
I've bought dd16 some AirPods and some perfume and dd8 a Lego set so far.
I've got the Christmas Eve boxes pretty much sorted but I've still loads to get

CoffeeChocolateWine · 19/10/2023 07:08

Based on your 'almost done', yes I'm almost done in that I've started but still have a fair few more things to buy! But I'm on track and pretty much know what I'm getting people.

Did I read right that you do your DP a Christmas Eve box? 😆 I wouldn't bother with that!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 19/10/2023 08:43

I've made a dent but there's still loads to do. I try and get it all done by December so I can just enjoy the month instead of feeling stressed.

NotFastButFurious · 19/10/2023 09:56

I don't even know what costume I'm doing for a Halloween party next Saturday, I haven't even thought about Xmas!!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 19/10/2023 10:11

I’m on track have to buy one present for Dc2 and three more things for DC1. Stockings are completed, Christmas Eve boxes completed, non chocolate advent calendars are done and 4 Dunelm Christmas appeal toys brought. However I still need to wrap and buy gifts for DM, FIL and a few bits for DH.

Hibernatalie · 19/10/2023 19:56

I reckon I'm half way there - going to finish and wrap everything week after next. I like to be done by early November on the present front.

ChristmasIsComing2023 · 19/10/2023 21:16

@Insidenumber09 @mondaytosunday @HollyBollyBooBoo
I don’t know I just feel like I’m almost done 🤷‍♀️ I mean I technically am done for ds, dp and my parents as they have enough but there’s things I’d like to get that I know they will like 😂 It does depend if I can afford it though so I’ll have to see 🤔

As for the couple of friends and ds’s friend and their sibling I think I feel more done there too as I know what I’m getting them, I just haven’t got it yet 😅

I am still stuck on what to get my Grandma but I’ve just got her a nice birthday present so all my thinking went into that 😁

@CoffeeChocolateWine I wanted to do Christmas Eve boxes so we started on ds’s first Christmas and decided to do them for each other as well. It’s just new pjs which we’d buy anyway as it’s just a nice Christmas tradition we all have, a snack and a drink and then something to do (a little activity thing/something to play with) and a bauble for the tree. It’s nice and I enjoy putting them together and it’s more fun to think of little gifts just like with the stockings 😝

Mindovermatter247 · 19/10/2023 22:30

I’ve barely started… I have almost finished dds stocking,… just gotta get 2 more things… haven’t even started on ds15, am absolutely clutching at straws for him…

whatausername · 20/10/2023 03:12

3 presents to get on payday. 3 further presents I'd like to give but don't think funds will stretch. All else is done.
