If you were making one of these for yourself what would you include?

So far I've got a half bottle of champagne and some new pyjamas.

Candle
Magazine
Bath soak
Recipe kit

YuliaJollyberry · 26/09/2023 11:28

For Christmas Eve I treat myself to something nice to go in my bath - an oil, salts, fizzer or a scented candle to go on the side, a new audio book and a bag of festive chocolate shapes.

ToDoListAddict · 26/09/2023 11:47

Ooooh that is such a good idea - might do one for myself too!
I'd probably fill it with things like:
Champagne/Prosecco
A Christmas theme flute glass
Christmas theme tea/coffee/hot chocolate
Christmas mug
Lindt truffles
Posh crisps
Pjs
Slippers
Fluffy socks
Christmas blanket
Snow fairy shower gel from lush
Christmas theme chick lit book
A nice notepad
Candle
Body lotion
Face mask
Those fancy heated eye masks
Perfume
Colouring book and pencils
Christmas wordsearch/crossword
A Christmas checklist of things I'd like to do in December - like go to the panto / bake cookies / meet friends for drinks etc
List of Christmas movies to watch
A craft kit
Christmas shopper bags

Obviously that's quite a lot of stuff so won't get everything but hopefully there's some ideas for you 😊

I make Dec 1st Boxes for my DC (21yoDD and will=be=24yo DS)

For mine (I don't drink alcohol , have baths or wear pyjamas , no candles due to cats and very rare chocolate)

Face pack
Hair mask
Really nice showergel
Fresh orange juice
Some really nice chocolate (not decided yet)
Big mug of coffee for when I'm in my robe
Christmas magazine . I buy Good Housekeeping early Nov but I could get Red or Cosmopolitain and keep it aside ?

As Dec 1st is a Friday I'm doing a huge vegetarian brunch then I can do my Dec 1st things
And on the 2nd , DD and I are going to ABBA Voyage Xmas Grin

Excellent list! I’d like all of those too, definitely considering doing a box for myself

Duckskitbank · 26/09/2023 21:24

Neom Christmas candle
Florentines
Hot chocolate
Craft set to try something new- I’d buy one aimed at older kids/ teens if you can’t get exciting adult ones
A novel set at Christmas
Red nail varnish and lipstick
If Dec 1st then something velvet or sparkly to wear during the festive period

Drews · 26/09/2023 21:28

Silk pajamas
Dark rum & ginger beer
Chocolate pralines
A book
Cashmere wrist warmers
Frankincense resin with candle burner

Shwighty1 · 26/09/2023 21:48

A ticket for a night away in a boutique hotel on my own 😂😂

RubyGemStone · 26/09/2023 22:12

Such good ideas! @Drews Slightly disturbed the perfect accuracy of your first 3 items, so much so I suspect if I knew what the last thing was I'd want it too.

Decided I will do 1st December. Its such an intense month for me work wise outside of organising and hosting Christmas and NYE. Small nice things to enjoy when I get a moment will be lovely.

So far I'm gong with:

Pyjamas
Couple of small sweet treats (Pralines/Gianduja, Marzipan Bar, Florentines)
Torres Crisps or Good olives
Champagne
Scratchcard
Christmas Themed book (recommendations welcome)
Magazine
Festive Shower/Bath item
Couple of sheet masks
New subscription service for a month (maybe AppleTV or Disney)
Christmas Candle
Craft set (again, would love some recommendations)

I'll be away on the 1st so mine would need to be a Christmas Eve box
So i'd have a good Christmas book
Something seasonal for my bath
Christmas socks
Nightdress
Bombay mix
Peanuts

Possibly a second book

VeronicaFranklin · 27/09/2023 00:04

Good post, I'd go with:

Christmas candle, something spiced from Neom or The White Company or maybe one from Homesense
Fluffy Pjs that have been washed with plenty of fabric softener and dried in the dryer so they're nice and soft
Christmas scent bubble bath
Christmas nibbles, caramelised nut selection, blue cheese & chutney, crackers
Fancy chocolates
Cashmere socks
Country Living Christmas magazine
Miniature bottle of baileys
Emma Bridgewater Christmas mug
Sainsbury's brandy filled mince pie

OMGitsnotgood · 27/09/2023 00:24

December 1st box: Christmas cook book
Bottle of Baileys to help with the wrapping
A facial or massage voucher to help relax
Christmas t-shirt (because i still get invited to 'Christmas jumper' events but find jumpers too hot

for either box:
shower gel & body lotion
nail varnish
candle
Lindor chocs
Gin
socks
hand wash and hand cream
mascara
cleanser

PumpkinSpicedTea · 27/09/2023 07:55

Love this. Although I don't do them for my children (yet) 🤣 My ideas are similar to most:

1st December box:

Prosecco
Christmas themed:
Mug
Christmas scent body wash, hand wash, lotions
Socks
PJs
Christmas novel
Magazine

RubyGemStone · 27/09/2023 10:27

Emma Bridgewater Mug is such a good shout, perfect excuse for a new one.

Whittard are doing a gingerbread hot chocolate that looks nice too.

For me this would feel like just another job. But those M&S beauty bags are nice. And a good book. And some delicious food. But I really wouldn’t want to have to add this to my already overwhelming list of to dos.

RubyGemStone · 27/09/2023 12:03

@Parlourgames Fair enough, everyone has different things going on. I'm lucky in being quiet at work for the next 2 weeks before the madness starts (and continues until usually Christmas Eve). I've just ordered most of it in 20 minutes, and have a few things to pick up when I'm shopping Friday. The craft set eludes me but I'm hoping if I can get it all packaged and put away in the loft now I'll have forgotten what I bought by December!

Some of the adult Lego sets are reduced on Amazon at the minute - bouquet for £36.67, bonsai £31.99, orchid £32.99. Or unbranded versions are much less expensive.

Nonplusultra · 27/09/2023 17:31

Mine would have

a lovely cashmere jumper that’s mildly seasonal so I can just throw it on with jeans and boots and look like I’m embracing the spirit of the season when I actually can’t be bothered dressing up.

a lovely candle with a subtle wintery scent (need to do more research) and good throw.

A small box of florentines, or
A box of tiny mince pies like the ones I once got in TK Maxx whose brand I have forgotten. The ratio of pastry to filling was perfection.

A selection of novels with winter themes

A new (or better yet very old) Christmas cookery book.

The above would be delivered by a Christmas fairy who would take over all the preparations as well as the daily domestic chores giving me time to read and stuff my face.

JewelleryCat · 27/09/2023 17:46

For the craft set, maybe colouring or sewing? A simple cross stitch or diamond painting?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 27/09/2023 18:13

What a nice idea
I would have
Half bottle of Prosecco
Mixed G&T cans
Favourite Lindt chocolate
Christmas" flavour" shower gel
Nicer than usual handwash
Socks
New mug
Ground coffee for cafetière
Christmas chick lit book
Christmas candle with crackling wick
New pen( for writing gift tags and cards)
New lipstick

RubyGemStone · 27/09/2023 18:26

@AliasGraceful Thank you so much for this lovely suggestion. I'm not great with lego but I ended up discovering the Lego Art Hokusai kit. Not for me, but my DH has a small tattoo of this and various items printed with this as he loves its from time in Japan. Typically it went up by £25 the minute I added to my basket so will have to keep an eye on it for now but will be a gift he will truly love!
