Our generation vs Barbie

Which is better??

DD has asked for a Barbie Dreamhouse but I don't know if i can even justify buying a second hand one. It looks like it will fall apart very easily. Also I see a lot of them for sale on second hand sites - which is never a good sign.

Our Generation looks better quality from what I've seen (and a bit more reasonably priced)

Anyone have a DD who had both? Which did you find better?

A few things to consider:
will your daughter be disappointed if she gets an Our Generation house instead of the one she’s asked for?
How many years do you reckon she has left until she outgrows dolls altogether?

OG is better quality, we have both and only OG really gets played with. The sets with rooms are absolutely huge and don't get much interest but they love the little fiddly bits like backpacks and notebooks.

OG are a lot bigger than barbie but do a mini version like Lottie dolls that's about the same size as Skipper. We have mostly the big sort though and don't play with the smaller ones. I don't mind, it seems wholesome enough. Mostly schools, shops and sleepovers.

Argos also do a version called design a friend which is slightly worse quality and sexier.

We've gone for the Dreamhouse, the reviews for it are really good and I know that's the one dd really wants. That said, we went for the previous one as it seemed better than the new one. Dd loves Barbie and all the small things the house comes with are right up her street, as well as the car that's included. I think it depends what your daughter is interested in playing with the most.

the dreamhouse is amazing. my daughter has had hers for about 3 years. ill never forget her face on Christmas day! it is massive though so do bear that in mind. it has good play value i think, she loves it. also has the camper van.

i would go with what she really wants. it isnt flimsy and nothing has broken.

We’ve inherited some OG stuff and it is bloody huge. Looks good quality, but my DD5 has never seemed that keen on it. As someone else said above, she likes the little bits that come with the sets/dolls. Not so bothered about the bigger bits, or really the dolls themselves.

Dgd (7) has both. She has the og ice cream truck, desk, bunk beds and a few other bits. They are lovely quality and she does play with them, but not half as much as she does her Barbie stuff, which I can say hasn't had anything break. She's decorated the dream house for Halloween and has asked for some of the movie bits for christmas (the doll and light up display box). I do like the look of the Og school house and the new campervan but she's not shown any interest.

Thanks for the feedback all.
She is much more into Barbie so reckon I'll suck it up and go with the Dreamhouse (a second hand one 😉)
