When are you baking your Christmas cake(s)?

I make cakes for close family members, but always seem to make it a bit too late so I only get to feed it for a few weeks. That said, I got the most flattering compliments on my cakes and have just been asked if I can please make them again.

I have done Delia's Creole cake in the past but last year I did her cake with just brandy. I think I will go with this again.

So, when are you baking your cakes?

I think the older generation in our family appreciate home made and baked goods, so I may make other things as well.

What do you make, either baking or other, for relatives at Christmas?

@AutumnalEquinox I leave the cake in the greaseproof paper then wrap it in cling film and then foil and place it in an airtight plastic cake box. I feed it brandy every 1-2 weeks. My sister always makes hers earlier than I do and she gets hers more brandy than I do - her cakes are excellent - I wrap mine the way she taught me to to keep them from drying out.

I’m thinking that I’m going to make everyone a hamper of goodies.

It’s probably not going to happen! 😁

I missed your tags, sorry!

Just back to say my mixed fruit are now in the booze and it's like the countdown to Christmas has begun ☃️🎅🎄🎁

I made Delia's Classic Christmas cake last year, and it was really good. I'm not normally a fan of either Christmas cake OR marzipan, so it had to have been good for me to enjoy it!

I used twice as much brandy as the recipe suggested to soak the fruit, and I made sure that it was fed fairly regularly.

I made it in mid-November, but that was because we were having an early Christmas celebration with family from Oz. I'll do it this year at the end of November.
