C Section at Christmas

I hope this is the best place to post as I know you all love Christmas so will hopefully get my dilemma.

I am hoping to have an ELCS on 22nd December but after seeing the MW (who I get on really well with informally) she shuddered and said “ooh no I’d wait until after”

So my dilemma is, in a perfect, risk free world, would you rather have baby here before the big day or wait until after but spend Christmas heavily pregnant, distracted by the impending CS and nervous about going into labour over the (short staffed) holiday period?

My consultant wanted to do 39 weeks but wouldn’t do mine any earlier than 38+4 so mine was just before Xmas day.

I had an ELC (it was my 2nd csection) on 20th December and it was wonderful, played Christmas music, was out the next day. Christmas day was chilling with our nearly 3 year old and newborn, we did have to go to hospital for his 5 day check up Christmas morning but again that was fine. We were in a baby bubble and saw family on the 27th which again was fine.

@CobraChicken or anyone else!
Can I ask why a Friday section should be avoided?

Im actively trying to get a Friday booking due to childcare….

I think the idea is that there are less staff on over the weekend? I could be wrong though.

I suppose there’s a risk I psyche myself up for the section on that Friday and we’re bumped but the next working day won’t be until the Wednesday 27th. Or do we think they might still do it on the Saturday? I’m thinking the consultant might have booked it as annual leave. I’m seeing him on Tuesday so I might just ask him.

To everyone I haven’t replied to I am loving your stories, I love people’s birth stories anyway

Our hospitals don't do electives on weekends, I suppose it would depend on your hospital, less about just the consultant but theatre staff availability, theatre availability etc.

I can’t imagine mine does either, but I would be prepared for that outcome too then
