Stocking ideas for a DS5

GreenMonstersParty · 25/08/2023 20:06

I've started planning for Christmas as I usually leave it until last minute and spend far too much.

I'm stuck on stocking ideas for DS who is 5 and loves football, playing board games & his tablet.

I don't want to buy him gifts for the sake of it but I do need to get him a reasonable 'pile' to match his much older siblings (they're easy as they get shower gel, body spray, pants, socks etc but this doesnt cost much).

Budget is about £50 for the stocking gifts.

Please share any ideas for your DCs stocking that I can copy!

Thank you 😊

My two loved top trumps and a Rubik’s cube in their stocking at that age. And fidget toys. ALL the fidget toys. Pokémon cards or football cards. Chocolate coins and a chocolate orange. Lego magazine?

I find it's the older ones that are harder to do stockings for!

Can you not get him socks, pants, toiletries etc as well?

Sweets/chocolate
Pens, craft stuff
Top trumps, Uno card games etc
A mug and some bits for hot chocolate if he likes it
A book
Small cuddly toy
Keyring of his favourite character/name to put on his school bag

My DS is the same age so I'm on the hunt for ideas. One thing we got last year that was a huge hit (and the cheapest thing) was glow sticks. We "snapped" them and put them in the bath, turned the lights out and he thought it was fab a disco bath (complete with the blue foam soap that turns the bath blue) / can make creations. Never bothered with the other gifts for days 😂

Whoopie cushion and a magic tree is always in ours

My DC loved some of our good old fashioned toys when visiting my parents - wooden pick up sticks and jacks spring to mind.
Character tooth brush & a toothbrushing timer went down well one year.
Cress seeds (even tho my DCs didn't like cress, they loved watching it grow.) With a funny face egg cup to grow them in so the cress looks like hair.
ispy books, younger kids versions
Book of paper aeroplanes
I bought a mosaic sticker book from B&M when meeting a friend for lunch and she had her grandson with her - for example but they had others.

Anything he's already got a few of that you can add to the collection? Small cars or toy dinosaurs?

If you have some Asian supermarkets near, getting some sweets or snacks from them always pleases our children, getting these unusual things is fun.
