@InDreamland a bit young for most 12 year olds. Snuggle seems to be massive with primary school kids, not really for secondary school aged.

InDreamland · 21/08/2023 11:07

Thank you all! Very helpful. I won't get it. I just thought it looked fun.

Any recommendations please for a 12 year old girl? Budget around £30. Is quite creative I think but has everything and anything she needs and wants.

InDreamland · 21/08/2023 11:11

Also, for her 14 year old sister. They're harder to buy for the older they get.

@InDreamland have you looked at bubble tea sets? My dd loves these and is turning 13 in a couple of months. Bubble panda seem to be the popular site.

Other popular things for friends parties have been stationery, particularly pretty notebooks and journalling stuff, highlighters, moshi tape, scrapbooking set, that sort of thing! A bullet journal starter set could be a good idea with a couple of nice stencils or stickers

Bath bomb sets (bomb cosmetics or lush) similarly body shop is popular, or a soap and glory set - some good ones get reduced in the star gifts from about September

jewellery from accessorize, they have some lovely sterling silver bits or the cheaper ones!

skinny dip phone case- obvs make sure it fits properly on her phone though 😄

vouchers for h and m or new look- seems to be the only places dd shops!

A nice bag from new look or river island. Could get a purse too

fluffy socks, hot chocolate set and popcorn. plus a voucher for Amazon prime or sky store for a film?

A slushy making cup.

If she has a Polaroid camera or sprocket you can get a good set of mini frames and albums plus pegs and string that they can display them. Also film as it runs out quickly

Shortie pajamas or an oversized/cropped hoody (not a hoody that fits…)

her best friend likes the mini brand food creator things for making mini recipes

books/book vouchers. My dd loves Percy Jackson, in fact everything by rick riordan and the gone series by Michael grant. Other popular teenage series are heartbreaker, have heard lots about it!

12 year old girls seem to be my forte

TheGirlWhoLived · 21/08/2023 11:23

If it was me and I wanted to spend most of the budget I’d get both a set of cute pajamas from new look (different styles though) a celebrations hot chocolate set from home bargains, some super comfy fluffy socks- again new look or primark, and a couple of face masks each!

Found a kids camera for ages 3-12 in multiple colours on discount and with a £6 voucher off. It looks like a great deal, and the reviews look great too, I have ordered for one of my DD!

https://amzn.to/3P1hmfJ

My kids got these cameras this summer and love them - the memory on them is amazing!

napsarelifewithtwo · 21/08/2023 11:40

Not Christmas related but my big Asda was just reducing all their summer clothes. There was lots of offer.

InDreamland · 21/08/2023 11:54

@TheGirlWhoLived amazing, thank you. I'll look into those things.

My 12 niece loved a pillow like these ones she got last year. From China though so no good if you want in a hurry

Is this the tape dispenser that everyone raved about a few years ago? My daughter has just dropped mine & it's in pieces so time for an upgrade🥲

superstar84 · 21/08/2023 12:46

Yes that’s the same tape dispenser just in a different colour, mines been great!

Yalz · 21/08/2023 13:45

Yes, I bought that tape dispenser, in that colour.

If mine disappeared I’d buy another. It’s very useful.

Ladymama12 · 21/08/2023 14:33

Also, for her 14 year old sister. They're harder to buy for the older they get.

I would enquire what style/stuff they wear. My dd is 14 and would really struggle to spend a new look/h&m voucher, would hate make up/jewellery and definitely not cropped anything! (Sorry these seem standard suggestions but not all girls are girly/into make up etc!) Now a forbidden planet, hmv or local gothic/emo style shop she would love a voucher for!!

My dds are 14 and 11, some things they would/have liked and use!

  • bubble tea kit.
  • kawaii style stationary.
  • Squishmallow cushion.
  • Lush bath bombs.
  • Amazon voucher to buy books etc.
  • Costa voucher and reusuable cup (seems to be the place for meeting friends!!)
  • A milk frother and hot chocolate making stuff went down very well a few years ago and still gets weekly use!
  • Card/board games - dobble, exploding kittens, boggle, herd mentality, Chameleon, what came first, colour brain.
  • Hama beads (got a big non branded kit from amazon)
  • Jewellery making stuff (I bought loads of beads/elastic/charms from shein and put in a lunch bag - cost around £25 and they had loads!)
  • Crystal's - I've got mixed ones from etsy, beautiful carved ones from a local shop, crystal chip bracelets with personalised crystals to them. I also got a book explaining the different qualities of each one.
  • oodie style hoodie.
  • large fleecy blankets and a long hot water bottle. Dd1 also likes a velcro one that goes round her tummy for when she gets stomach cramps.
  • wireless headphones.
  • posca pens and nice sketch books/canvas. If they are into drawing - the crayola skin tone pencils have gone down very well with dd1.

I am well in the way to getting lots of presents now. Brilliant list @SootspriteSearcher totally what my daughter would be into as well.

I don't know if anyone else bagged the wooden croquet set from M&S but I am so pleased with it. Its incredibly well made and the kids love it and have played with it for ages today. Thanks to whoever recommended it.

The Bridal Beauty Company’s always popular on here… had an email saying mystery boxes for £30 include a free Penhaligons scent library until Friday

@Irritatedmum Could you please link to this box? I can’t find it on the website. Thank you!

imnottoofussed · 21/08/2023 20:19

It says it across the top of their website

www.thebridalbeautycompany.com/products/mystery-beauty-bag

Callmesleepy · 21/08/2023 20:36

@Pompomagogo would you mind linking to the croquet set again please? I've scrolled back but can't find it.

Pompomagogo · 21/08/2023 20:50

@Callmesleepy it was from M&S toy section on their website but sold out pretty quickly unfortunately

Famousthehero · 21/08/2023 21:17

Website so slow and glitchy I think it took years off my life, but there are some good discounts in the Hamleys toy sale

for example, they have the moon ball for £2.80 when it’s normally about £7

code CART5 takes 5% off I think - I couldn’t get the 10% code on the site to work

Hamleys Summer Sale Upto 75% Off

Hamleys - the finest toys in the world. We offer a premium service, whether you are shopping at one of our flagship stores or via our website. Fast, reliable delivery and gift wrapping available on all toys and games from our stores.

Wowser, @Famousthehero , you’re not wrong about the Hamleys website- that’s 40 minutes of my life I won’t get back!
But some great bargains, I’ve well and truly stocked my present cupboard up and my own DC are going to love the teddy bear hats/costumes!

Elpheba · 21/08/2023 22:12

Forgot to add, with Hamleys you get free postage at £40 and NEW10 takes off 10% if you spend £40 so I made sure I spent £44 to get the free delivery still!
