Lego travel case (with bricks) £13 from £40 on Amazon.

Escapetothecountryplease · 13/08/2023 21:56

Following, thanks for being so organized folks, got some brilliant reccomendations last year

gawditswindy · 13/08/2023 21:58

Asda have 30% off a lot of their Lego sets. Some nice Disney sets.

My son has got one of these from a couple of years ago that MIL bought for him, it's not bad quality and he does still play with it every now and then. It does take up a fair bit of room though!

I think you'll find after a few years you'll want the floor space for more expansive track desgns

My daughter loved the HABA orchard game

We're still playing the orchard game often and mine are 8 and 4.
The ogre game race to the treasure is also fun and easy enough

What is the cheapest way to hit a Nintendo Switch?
I have zero clue about gaming but DS seems to love playing games at his friends houses so I'm thinking it would be a great gift

Possibly Black Friday. I don’t think you’ll get the console cheaper but you might get a game bundle. Keep an eye on game too as they have been doing deals on PlayStation and x box recently so may do Nintendo.

Crimsonbow · 14/08/2023 07:29

The lego travel set is £17.99 elsewhere, not sure sometimes about Amazon's inflated original prices 😅 but thank you for mentioning it - £13 is still a good price and I've bought one!

On the subject of games consoles - DH wants a wii for his birthday to play games with the kids. I realise it needs to be secondhand because they don't make them anymore but what would I need to buy? Preloved sites are a minefield! Think he'd want Mario, wii sports, 2 remotes maybe? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

MarshmallowsOnToast · 14/08/2023 08:00

I think In previous years there have been some deals on tinyme

The website that sells clothing and sticky name labels for kids clothes/lunchboxes.

If anyone sees anything would you be kind enough to post here please?

Need some ready for DS starting a new pre-school in September,

Or If anyone has any recommendations for buying elsewhere??

Thanks

NigelTheCrab · 14/08/2023 08:08

My DH is an avid gamer and collector. He buys his used games and consoles from either eBay or CEX.
He bought our Wii with a load of games and accessories from eBay about 18 months ago. He always checks the sellers profile and feedback rating before bidding/buying.

Sorry. That was meant for @Crimsonbow

OneFamily · 14/08/2023 08:34

@MarshmallowsOnToast they’ve just had their free sheets for each letter and then everyone. Finished maybe last week I’m afraid.

If you're not already a very customer they sometimes run offers for 20% off for new customers. My MIL bought a switch last year doing that and it was the cheapest she could get one. It opens a credit account but you can pay it off straight away.

Crimsonbow · 14/08/2023 08:44

Thanks @NigelTheCrab

We use Stikins @MarshmallowsOnToast and really rate them. The only thing they've come off so far have been shoes but I didn't read the instructions and put them right under where the heel of DC's feet go.

https://www.stikins.co.uk/ I've had a look and can't see any deals though.

If you have a CEX near they are very good. I got my Wii there and its still going strong about 15 years later.

These are brilliant, they only come off if you want them too. They’re expensive and I’ve bought them for years without seeing a deal, but they’re worth every penny. The more you buy, the cheaper they work out (and we go through a lot - we often stick them on items last minute as the DC are heading out of the door!).

evtheria · 14/08/2023 11:03

@MarshmallowsOnToast I'm another who uses stikins - I just get the simple labels. Actually tried them free from a MN product test, but they're so good I keep buying them.

Flubadubba · 14/08/2023 11:45

@MarshmallowsOnToast also use stikins. They are great! Just buy a huge amount and you'll be done for ages

Famousthehero · 14/08/2023 12:14

@MarshmallowsOnToast and if it’s any consolation, the tinyme deal this year was on stick on labels but not the ones for clothes - they don’t seem to do these any more, just an iron on version for some reason (unless I’m not reading the description properly)
I went with some from

Famousthehero · 14/08/2023 12:16

Whoops hit post sorry- Petit fernand for our labels, but they haven’t arrived yet and the order was a while ago. Will try stick ins next, I hadn’t heard of them before

We're the same. MN testers and now loyal customers!

Honeyandwine · 14/08/2023 13:10

Used petit-fernand too @Famousthehero They took a while but arrived today and seem good so far. I guess time will tell.

Arewesureitisntbedtime · 14/08/2023 13:21

We use the stikins too and always highly recommend them. Our primary school had a school code to enter on the website which earned the s&pa a little bit of money so might be worth checking if your schools have a code.
