Barbie plane and camper - Are they worth it?

As the title says, are the Barbie planes and campers worth the cost?

In the past I’ve never been able to afford them and always refused to pay the costs anyway.

We’ve had cheaper versions which have been ok, older DDs got given cheap campers by a relative from Wilkos, they were a bit flimsy, could hurt if fingers got caught but the accessories were pretty good and still have a few knocking around. Same with a cheap plane.

I also bought a pink camper at a car boot last year, it did ok for £3 but DD 3 plonked it on my bed last week saying it’s broken and no good plus it’s not really a barbie one.

She is desperate for the Barbie camper and or airplane. she still has a birthday to come before Christmas so in theory we could get one for each, I’m just a bit of a tight wad and don’t want to buy if they aren’t worth the cost.

For reference, DD dose love Barbie, way more than my older 2 DDs did. She dose look after her play sets, has the fold away Malibu house and a couple of play-sets as well as some Chelsea playsets.

So if anyone has bought them, are they worth the price tag?

We got a Barbie camper from a charity shop and wasn't in perfect condition but my girls love it and it's always one of the first things pulled out when other little girls visit.

I thought the camper looked better than plane (both were being sold in the charity shop) and left the plane behind even though it was only £3.50.

Our granddaughter got one when she was 4 still looks new 3 years later, it's s been so well played with and she's never broken it (she wasn't the most gentle with toys when she was younger either). At 7 she had it out in the garden at the weekend so it's definitely been worth the money. I think it's better made than the lol camper. It's always on a good deal somewhere throughout the year, and Amazon prime day will be coming up soon. Definitely one of the better buys in terms of play value and quality.

My girls have the camper and also the ambulance - they play with them all the time! In the summer they take them outside to the garden, will happily play away for a couple of hours at a time.

I would start saving from January for certain gifts. I did buy the proper Barbie stuff and baby choo chou and baby annabell then the bratz craze. I did buy cheaper versions of some barbie type dolls and clothes but found I was replacing them so it ended up being the same price as an original one.
after my daughters grew out of them most I stored and put in the attic along with the generic boys toys I had from my sons.
I brought the stuff out of the attic a while ago for my stepsons children and they are very much like new still, after a clean up, the grandkids love them and my children love seeing them again and talking about their memories.
I would if it’s financially possible to buy the original versions of the ones you are talking about as they last forever. They are very well made but have a look on EBay first as we sold a lot of things on their that we didn’t want to keep.
I have also in the past built up or taken all the fasteners of the toys and put back in the boxes so kids can use them straight away. So it won’t matter if not in boxes at Xmas

We have the plane and DD loves it, it's well made and has lots of accessories, she loves playing holidays with it. We also have the ambulance which she enjoys.

Great thanks everyone. I will still keep an eye out for 2nd hand but if it’s worth paying full price I’m happy to do that with something that lasts or can be on sold.

Camper. Ambulance and food truck are all massive hits here. Well worth the money

I would definitely recommend trying to purchase secondhand as they last a long time

My daughter has the camper and she plays for hours with it

Charity shop camper here. DD very much enjoyed hers but we do go camping so was a bit of a thing for her.

We had a second hand Barbie plane, cost about a tenner. Best tenner I ever spent. They loved it. Mind you it wasn't just for Barbie, Playpeople, dinosaurs, teddies and a hamster (don't ask).
