When do they go on sale for the Royal Opera House? I was far too slow for the Christmas just gone and I don't want to miss out again!

Usually September time; they publish the new season in April/May and will give exact booking dates then. They usually do The Nutcracker at Christmas, but not absolutely every year.

Friends’ booking was early July this year and general booking is normally about a month later. Worth checking the exact date in good time if you want plenty of choice as lots of people book on the day booking opens.

Thank you! I'll put reminders in the diary in July and September and keep my fingers crossed!

Does it have to be London? I assume you are looking at the Royal Ballet production. If not I would recommend Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB) as an alternative. My daughter's ballet teacher 1st recommended it to us and we've been several times. It's really magical and is already on sale. I've booked 5 tickets already because it always sells out.

I went to the Nutcracker at the Royal Albert Hall that @SMabbutt mentioned above at the weekend. It was amazing and I would thoroughly recommend.

Not necessarily but I do love the ROH! Thanks for the tip about tickets already being on sale. I'll have a look.

Roh has gone down hill a little, C's... provisions... general feel of the place feel more ... rustic but not in a good way.

Royal Albert hall one sounds amazing but I couldn't see any reasonable prices for tickets

I saw it at the Coliseum this Christmas, English National Ballet. Was lovely

GivenchyDahhling · 07/01/2023 21:31

The ROH production is still the best production in the country IMO. If for whatever reason you miss out, the ENB at the Coliseum is very good but the staging and overall quality (of the principals, costumes etc) isn’t quite on a par with the ROH.

Booking opens over the summer usually, I’m a member now but before I was often placed in a queue when booking on the day it opened. You will probably be able to get tickets other than on that first day of public availability but it will likely be on less desirable dates and the seats will be either poor, or poor value (eg the very back row within a block of higher tiered price tickets).

I've just seen Nutcracker by the Northern Ballet In Leeds. I booked it in February.

If it's been Nutcracker this last year, it's unlikely to be on again this coming year

I’m sure tickets come out for the ROH at the end of July. Keep checking their website. It really is the most wonderful production and so worth seeing.
