It’s my favourite day of the whole year! Christmas Day is hard work with family dynamics at my parents but when I get home on boxing day I just love it!
Cooking a full Christmas dinner today so the house smells amazing! All the crappy Christmas tv has been recorded and is ready to go and the chocs have been opened! Heaven.

It’s been our very first year in forever that we purposely made no Boxing Day plans and it’s been the best day ever. We always host Christmas day for my family and then go to MILs for Boxing Day and round 2. This year we invited all the in-laws to us a few days before Christmas, exchanged presents and had a big buffet in order to save the 26th as a day of Official Resting! Best decision we’ve ever made. We had 22 round to ours yesterday, I managed to get mostly sorted here at about 1:30 am after the last guests had left so this morning we did the dishwasher, quick hoover and that’s about it. Not perfect but I’ve spent the rest of the day on the sofa in front of the fire napping and reading, dh has spent it in bed with a box set on, the dc have been amused by their new stuff… Everyone had a lie in, everyone has just had leftovers, I had a nice walk this afternoon all on my own and then a hot bath. Tomorrow will be a bit more full on as we properly sort the house out and pack for a fun holiday with dhs siblings and all their families (my dc call this their favourite holiday of the whole year, it’s always brilliant), leaving Wednesday. This is why we need the official rest day built in!!

It’s my favourite day too, I love the idea of a PP who said this is their Christmas - it feels like that for me too.

December is so full on, I love the excitement of Christmas and the build up for the children but it’s tiring. I haven’t stopped all month due to work, caring for a family member and buying and wrapping all the gifts. I finished the big clean and wrapping Christmas Eve, then with the chaos of yesterday I was absolutely done in.

Today we have had a lie in and then stayed in our pyjamas until lunchtime. Both kids have played with their new toys, we had a lovely walk this afternoon then went over to my mums for a buffet of leftovers. Tonight I’ve had a hot bath and started a new book.

I love it. Back to work on Wednesday so I’ll be making the most of tomorrow too.

Love this. Was reminded on Twitter earlier that historically Christmas Day was the start of the twelve days of Christmas festivities so absolutely this does feel like my Christmas 🎅🏻
