When to open presents?

If you were seeing a set of parents/your childrens grandparents on Boxing Day, would you get presents from them early and open on Christmas Day and just see them on Boxing Day, or would you wait till Boxing Day to do the present exchange as well?

Myself and DH have completely different opinions haha!

I'd exchange on boxing day.

I'd exchange & open on Boxing Day when I saw them

We open presents from Santa and each other at home on Christmas Morning. Then we go to PIL where we open presents from them and give them presents. Then on Boxing day we see my parents and do the same. I think its only fair the gift giver should be able to watch their gifts being opened.

Also with young kids it spreads the present opening out a bit so they dont get overwhelmed and can actually appreciate what they have been given.

Exchange and open on Boxing Day. Spread the joy.

I'd do it on Boxing Day. We are seeing family on the day after and doing it then. Prefer not to have Christmas over with on one day, no harm in spreading it out.

Regular presents on christmas day and then bang BONUS new presents from all the relatives you see on Boxing day. Every year of my childhood and it was kind of awesome

I'd only do it Christmas Day if we weren't seeing them until after Twelfth Night/back to school.

As a kid we did this, presents at home, presents at my grandparents later that day then presents at my other grandparents on Boxing Day. I kind of wish we had that now. As it is, both sets of parents come to us on Christmas Day. DH does have siblings whom we see on other days throughout the holiday period so other gifts are exchanged, but I feel it's not quite the same.

I knew I wasn't mental, thank you all for confirming! Merry Christmas!
