I got my Christmas click and collect this afternoon and managed to fit it all in the fridge! Tah dah!
However, it has just occurred to me that I still need to provide dinner tonight and tomorrow (though likely to be takeaway then). And I have nothing! Everything is for either Christmas or Boxing Day! I do have the makings for a lasagna but it's only me and my daughter tonight and she has the flu so is eating little. I think it's going to be baked potatoes with bacon and cheese.
How can I have spent so much money on just two days food? There better be plenty of leftovers to last the few days afterwards!

Tonight we are having the other half of the massive cottage pie I made yesterday. Tomorrow I'm doing the gammon, so we're either having some of that tomorrow evening sliced and in baguettes, or the buffet-type stuff I bought for Boxing Day. Or vice-versa, I've stopped caring!

FannyCann · 23/12/2022 20:50

I used to like to do gammon on Christmas Eve, my mother always did it and then there's a choice of cold ham and cold turkey on Boxing Day.
But now DD is vegan so it seems pointless and she used to love it. We have a small turkey for DH, me and DD2, and I'm making a special vegan wreath for DD1 but I can't be doing with two meals for Christmas Eve. I have to cook the three elements that make up the vegan meal tomorrow and then all I have to do on Christmas Day is assemble it. I haven't even decided what to have tomorrow. Probably pasta and salad ie nothing special. Xmas Confused

Make soup with your Turkey bones. You might get a few meals from that. 😊

We're eating Christmas cake and cheese this evening. 🖕 to the rules...

Christmas wreath recipe for the vegans. I did it a couple of years ago, it was a great success and it's not as much trouble as I thought it would be when I first looked at the recipe.

I buy a 3kg ham for Christmas and have cooked that this afternoon and we had some for tea (with veg and mash).

Tomorrow, I've ordered a seafood platter from the fish shop to serve simply on ice with fresh bread, samphire, dips, salad and lemon. All bought, no prep.

Same here! DM arrived for Christmas today, and I suddenly thought oh crap, what am I going to produce for dinner? Just as the Christmas ham was emerging from the oven.....

I made my kids plain egg noodles with just a bit of soy sauce on them tonight. We had McDonald's for lunch. We also did the big shop last night and I don't want to use things up before they're needed!

I decided to stuff the rules.

Im on the taste difference clementine gin & cheese tasters from M&S.

Everyone else is out & im not cab driver tonight. I may drink the whole bottle. Live dangerously.

Mommabear20 · 23/12/2022 21:06

We've had to get fish and chips tonight because I forgot we needed to eat tonight! 😂

I forgot bloody christmas day except the dinner. No cheese or pate or bread! Numpty! Going to have to brave the shops. My fridge feels bare tbh!

I’m having wine for tea tonight 🤩

Idtotallybangdreamoftheendlessnotgonnalie · 23/12/2022 21:57

If a mum isn't yelling at her starving kids "don't touch that, it's for Christmas", is it even Christmas?

grumpycow1 · 23/12/2022 21:57

Same - had my parents round so had a takeaway 😂
