What Christmas cleaning are you doing today?

I'm cleaning the bathrooms, changing the bedsheets, dusting and hoovering. I also cleaned the carpet in DH and my bedroom with some of that vanish powder stuff. Not sure it made an enormous difference, but it involved brushing the carpets and I caught a lot of hair 🤢 doing that. Think that is because it's where I dry my hair!

Will tackle the oven tonight.

Aaah! I had great plans, but one of my kids had scarlet fever and the other has tonsillitis. Just cuddling on the sofa all day long. The house will probably be messy and dirty for Christmas, but that’s ok. The kids won’t notice.

Every time I clean the living room, my kids destroy it again 😂, so I'm leaving that for last

Cleaned fridge , dusted and hoovered and cleaned bathrooms .

Hoovered all the house, cleaned the bathroom, stripped beds and changed bedding, mopped the floors downstairs.
Just need to put some washing away

I have done a vacuum, changed the bed linen for my son, will clean the bathroom etc, but I wouldn't says it's more than usual.
I was to have a relative visit who's never been to the house before so I would have done a more thorough cleaning for her! But she's cancelled.

Yep, just sat down after a full on day, my teens helped - full on clean and hoover through, 2 loads of washing, 2 loads through the dishwasher and 2 lasagnes made, a cauli cheese, a Yule log and the braised red cabbage for Xmas day. Also cleaned and hoovered and fresh sheets in the guest room and all the bathrooms cleaned, bins emptied, big pile of washing up done.
still need to spruce up our bedroom, DH is doing dinner and will bring in a load of logs. Tomorrow is cranberry sauce, orange sauce to go with duck, final shop for salad bits, and guests arrive. A few presents still to wrap - might get off here and go and do that now …..

I've still got some presents to wrap and cranberry sauce to make for Christmas Day and a cheesecake to make for tomorrow. Thankfully it is a no bake recipe as I need the oven cold to clean it

DH is currently doing all ours while I read A Christmas Carol with my feet up, a cat on my lap and a cup of tea in hand (also made by DH).

He loves cleaning and I don't want to ruin his Christmas, so...

@WhatFreshHeII I wish my DH loved cleaning. Or failing that, I wish I loved cleaning! You're not the first person I've heard saying this about their DH recently. Some people just enjoy it. I am sadly not one of those people

Last few days

Cleaned fridge
All kitchen cupboards inside and out
Microwave

Hoovered all pic rails, skirtings etc etc
Changed all 5 beds

Hoovered behind every piece of furniture
Moppee through but will be done again tomorrow night quick
Ironing
Things like bathroom kitchen etc is done daily anyway.

Tomorrow is wash and tumble towels.
Fold what's on the airer now.

Just been to the supermarket
Now in barbers with Dh.
Will tackle hoovering, dusting bathrooms when we get back.
Put laundry away - defrost the joint - already then

We have a big family gathering at ours today (15 total) so yesterday I did a deep clean. I spent over 2 hours cleaning the range with pink stuff and a diamond sponge, got nearly all of the black bits off! It was incredibly satisfying but oh my god my back and arms ache today!! I also cleaned every cupboard door and handle, all light switches and windows, wiped down every surface and then steam mopped the flooring. This morning I've cleaned both bathrooms and just have to get started on food prep before they arrive for lunch. It's taken quite a long time in total but is worth it cos now I can relax when everyone is here and not have to do any more cleaning for the rest of the holiday.

This thread has reassured me that I’m not the only one killing myself cleaning and tidying .I am exhausted with it all.

I did my big clean last weekend as PIL visited then, so I’m now on maintenance cleans (and snarling “don’t leave that there” on repeat). Just need to wipe the walls where I’ve just watched DDog wipe his face 🤨.
Bought a new hoover this week so I am mildly obsessed with hoovering to see what it brings up now. There’s always something horrifying about a new hoover clean, when you realise what the last one left behind (despite being used 3 times a week or more!).

None, the house is always tidy and is cleaned throughly twice a week.

We are busy enough at this time of year without adding additional cleaning.

DH cleaned the bathroom yesterday but only because it needed it and I've gone on an unofficial strike. I work full time and he's retired and does hardly anything so I thought well I"m done with being the only one doing it.
It's only our adult DC coming and they don't care.

We had a family tidy yesterday. As we all did a bit it was actually ok and seemed fun as everyone knows it’s prep for a special day and so we can sloth about afterwards. Just need a quick go of the bathrooms later and all sorted.

I'm going to have 14 people, most of which are primary age children, and 3 cats in my house.

Cant see any point in doing a big clean, since it'll last all of 0.6 seconds before it looks a mess again. So saving myself the stress and not doing anything more than making sure the bathrooms are all stocked with loo roll and the sticky patch from a drink spillage is cleaned.

Big clean done in stages this week - so all I need to do today is hoover round again downstairs and re-do the bathroom. This afternoon’s job.

Honestly, my house looks absolutely amazing now it's clean. I've done a room a day this week so not killed myself but been unbelievably thorough in each room - pulling them completely apart and putting them back again.

It's been so satisfying I don't know why I don't do it more often than once or twice a year!

We’ve all got this hideous bug that’s going around, so I’m just trying to keep on top of surface level tidying, not deep cleaning. There are four of us (including a toddler) in a small house so there’s nowhere to hide if it’s not tidy! I got a cleaner in for a one-off deep clean a couple of weeks ago and I’m so glad I did because now i barely have the energy to run the hoover around!

Cheesecake is done. I couldn't get cauliflower cheese yesterday after it didn't arrive in my click and collect order, so I'm going to make that today. I would miss it if we didn't have it with Christmas dinner! Also will do the cranberry sauce today.

everywhere had a really good clean before the tree and decorations went up last weekend, it’s a nightmare trying to dust around all of the extra stuff.

i hoovered and and cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms yesterday like I usually do on a Friday.
