And what age are they?

3yo is fully on board but tbh we could tell him anything and he'd believe it.

7yo has told me she thinks the parents provide the presents. I'm just holding strong and pretending still but she knows. I hope we just turn into a situation where she enjoys going along with it and I'm still laying out Santa footprints when she's 25.

11 year old no
7 year old yes

I'm amazed that kids in junior school believe. Surely there are other kids in school that spill the beans?

AWaferThinMint · 22/12/2022 08:37

@ThisGirlNever do you have a 3 tier system?

We have primary and secondary. I'd expect them to know the truth for secondary!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 22/12/2022 08:39

Yes and mine is 9. She has questioned stuff previously though

4-year-old DS definitely does.

DD last year (then age 5) said to me "You're really Santa, aren't you." Denied it, then carried on as normal. Have done all the usual Santa and Christmassy things this year, she seemed to believe, then asked me again if I was Santa 🤷‍♀️

I think she's not sure, but definitely doubting. She's very astute though and sees things in black and white.... I think the story just has a few too many holes for her liking!

I think DS will believe for a fair few more years though 😁

9 year old doesn't and this is her 3rd Christmas without so she would have been 7 when she stopped (december birthday)
3 year old definitely does. First year fully understanding.

Yes at 10 and 8. DD1 is autistic.

My dc never believed. Said it was just a man dressed in the clothes. That was before he was 2.
But we still had fun, both us parents and him pretending he exist. We still left cookies for him, spread the food on the driveway for his reindeers, until he was in ks2.

At 2 he didn't understand and I don't know why you can't see that?! You are meant to make it magical so then they believe. And if he thought Santa was just a man dressed up..."yes that's right darling, that's Santa's helpers because the real one is in the north pole getting ready to deliver your presents."
Sounds like you just didn't try tbh!

Sort of...I think the eldest one just plays along a bit. They're 8 and 4

InfinityOrUndefined · 22/12/2022 09:07

Ds12 year8 says he still believes but also said that he is probably the only one in his school who believes.
Dd10 still believes.

DS asked at age 8 and I told him the truth. He was fine about it. Now 11yo and full of Christmas excitement.
