Kids Christmas lunch dessert

The desserts I'm doing for Christmas lunch are a bit grown up (think dark chocolate and booze). We have 6 kids ages 2-12 coming and I want to make something fun and tasty for them.

Anyone have any winning recipes for kids? Thanks

A standard Yule log is my kids choice

We just let the kids attack the Yule log and if they want something else jelly and ice cream is always a winner.

A couple of Viennettas 🙂

FriedEggChocolate · 20/12/2022 13:47

I came on to say Vienetta too! The kids will love it.

Can't go wrong with chocolate Yule log, surely.

mumonthehill · 20/12/2022 13:54

Individual chocolate mousse, so easy to make and then a little selection of things to sprinkle on top, like stars, marshmallows etc

ABlindAssassin · 20/12/2022 13:55

Yule log for the win!

TheRookie · 20/12/2022 13:56

Yule log and ice cream here, this is usually on Christmas eve, day and boxing day 😀😀😀

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 20/12/2022 14:05

Ice cream station. My DDs would not touch Yule log, I did give them vienetta once, they weren’t fussed. They would happily eat a bowl of ice cream and cover it in thinks they like.

My go to desert is a smorgasbord of sweet options to cover DDs & us, meringue, luxury popcorn, berries, candy floss, mini chocolate elf’s etc..last year my DDs had bowls of ice cream and decorated them with what they wanted. I will be doing the same this year.

I was going to suggest ice cream with toppings/sauces e.g. sprinkles, mini marshmallows, sauce

anotherusernamethiswerk · 20/12/2022 15:20

I've ordered a chocolate smash cake from sainsburys. I think I must have been drunk when I ordered, as it serves 18. (They'll only be 6 of us and DP and I won't eat it)

These are fab ideas, thank you so much!

I'm not sure why I didn't think about a Yule log Blush

I love the idea of ice cream with loads of topping, kids would like that and it would suit the different ages and likes!

Knickerbocker Glory

Banana split

Baked Alaska

Notonyournellykelly · 20/12/2022 18:13

I'd go jelly and ice cream / make your own sundae type thing.

I wouldn't give them vienetta personally, but I am a bit of an ice cream snob! Ice cream is clearly far too important to me 😂

Yoyo2021 · 20/12/2022 18:56

Went to Asda and bought a Rudolph Yule Log (kind of like a Colin caterpillar but Rudolph themed!) il serve it with ice cream or warm custard whatever my child wants! I also will make a jelly to go with ice cream have some ice cream sauces and wafers. Keep it simple!
