Hello! I have a random and last-minute question, if anyone could help I’d be SO grateful.

DD (almost 13) is into sushi. Can anyone recommend a beginner’s sushi-making kit, or a sushi-making experience?

Many thanks!

Yes! Good idea. All you really, really need is the bamboo mat to help you roll up the rolls.

Then you will want to add in a few specialist ingredients like the sheets of nori seaweed, the pickled pink ginger and wasabi.

Maybe a cute Japanese lunch box to put the finished creations in.

You would need to have a large-ish East Asian food store nearby.

Ours did a brilliant kids course at Yo Sushi - it was pre-covid but worth a look. You can buy the rice, mats etc at most supermarkets but like pp says if you have an asian supermarket nearby that would be a great joint shopping trip

If you are in London or online, Yuki does various classes including sushi. www.yukiskitchen.com/japanese-cooking-class/sushi-making-class#scheduling
I’ve done a class in person, and a few free online classes last year - highly recommend!
