Help! Gift idea for 10-year old boy

Hello! Please can any mums of 10 year old boys help me with a gift for my nephew? It's the last gift on my list. He lives 5 hours away so I don't really know what he has. He loved his Switch, loves playing the guitar, but isn't massively sporty.

Thank you!! X

Game for Switch?
Voucher?
Lego

Seriously phone his mum and get an idea from her. She'll know what he has and is getting.

I have asked my sister about 5 times. She just says a surprise!! I did a wish list on Amazon for mine in case anyone asked rather than have loads of duplicates etc.

I don't know what games he's got. Maybe I just go for cash....

How much do you want to spend?

Sugarfree23 · 18/12/2022 13:14

A surprise - that's helpful

Sounds like she's out of ideas for him too. I'm going to say lego or rc car.

Whatever you buy make sure you get gift receipt.

My ds is around that age and sounds similar. He asked for a new switch game so would recommend a voucher! New Minecraft annual and an book called level up 2022 which is basically an overview/annual of popular video games this year.

UncleFestersBaldHead · 18/12/2022 13:27

Popular authors for that age are David Baddiel, David walliams, Matt haig, Jeff Kinney, Liz pichon. David baddiel has a new book out as does Jeff Kinney.

FIFA 2023? Vbucks (not entirely sure what the latter are tbh, but my 10 yr old wants some!).

Funny slippers? PlayStation or minecraft hoody? Next do some nice ones.

Board game? Puzzle?

Funky backpack? Hype seems to be on trend. Similar with stationary.

Thesearmsofmine · 18/12/2022 13:33

Depends on n how much you want to spend? The Guiness book of records, a magazine subscription(my 10 year old is getting The Phoenix), a board had like Ticket to Ride.

Tailfeather · 18/12/2022 22:46

Thanks! Deffo going to get a couple of the annual and Guinness World Records book too. And then maybe a voucher. I just wanted him to have a couple of bits to open. Thank you!

Will keep the gift receipts.

Rymans UK have a range of NASA inspired construction toys, I've just bought a Mars Rover replica for £6.99, but there was a Click & Collect fee bringing it to almost £9.

How about a would you rather book? My 10 year old dd loved hers last year, lots of great questions all day 🤣

She also loves a riddle or joke so has a few of those books too!

Anything edible is always a winner, one of those hot chocolate bombs/stirrers and her own mug went down well last year.

Board games - she's just got into chess, but other favourites are dobble, exploding kittens, what came first, blockus, herd mentality, colour brain junior, throw throw burrito, rush hour.

One of those oversized oodie hoodies? Dd loves her one from primark. Or a fleece blanket - I saw minecraft and marvel ones in primark this week. She also likes fluffy socks and a hot water bottle!

Another hit has been a card magic tricks book and set of cards. She has had great fun learning the tricks to try out on us!
