And it’s concert tickets so not easy to sort out as obviously they’re non refundable 😭I feel annoyed with dh as apparently his brother had mentioned it to him ages ago and he never thought to tell me. The tickets his brother managed to get are better than mine so they’ll definitely be using those ones. And to top it all off I’ve just realised that I’ve accidentally selected to have them sent by post instead of email which will make it even harder to sort out should I manage to sell them on somewhere.

I have a funny feeling I’ve just wasted £140 and now have no main present for dh either. Merry Christmas!

Go yourself with a friend? No point being annoyed at your DH for it, it’s not his fault it’s just an unfortunate coincidence. I’d be sad too though!

Lds1 · 10/12/2022 22:22

If it's through ticket master you can resell them through them, although not sure if people would buy them if there are still tickets available.

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 10/12/2022 22:28

I know it’s not really dh fault, I think it annoys me that he’d already made that plan with his brother and not mentioned it to me whereas if I’m making plans like that I always check with him first to make sure he’ll be around for the kids, but he makes plans and assumes I will be there. But I guess that’s not for the Christmas topic 😬

Lds1 it was through AXS who only do resale for certain venues of which this is not one. It’s not until July next year but yes not sold out so people are unlikely to be looking for secondhand tickets.

Is selling on Twickets an option? Might sell out nearer the date, or just list for a bit of a loss.
Doesn't help you with feeling annoyed or having no main present issues though I know. I would be a bit irritated too I think.
Is it a gig you would want to go to, can you use the tickets?

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 10/12/2022 22:42

No I’m not really interested in going - I’d bought 2 tickets thinking dh would probably take his brother 😂

I will definitely attempt to sell them on, I’d happily sell them for half what I paid rather than them totally go to waste, I just think people are really wary of buying resale tickets now - I know I would be!

Does your DH have any friends that are also fans that might but the tickets off you cheap?

lightisnotwhite · 10/12/2022 23:15

How bloody annoying.
Does he have a group of friends ? Could you sell his tickets cheap/ gift to them so all his mates are going thanks to you?
Do you have a plan B as a present? Could you maybe do a hotel/restaurant to go with the other present of tickets. So it looks like you arranged a fab evening rather than his mate stealing your thunder.

kateandme · 10/12/2022 23:34

Any chance you could phone the ticket office.explain the situation and see if they have sympathy.

PyongyangKipperbang · 10/12/2022 23:55

WHich band is it?

You might find a better chance selling them on in a FB/SM group for that band.

EpicChaos · 11/12/2022 01:02

Ooooooh, Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper!
Not sold out? WoW, that's a surprise.

Hope you can get them sold OP, I'm sure you will.

Merrow · 11/12/2022 08:45

If you don't need the money immediately I'd hold off until much closer to the event before trying to sell in case it does sell out.

deeperthanallroses · 11/12/2022 08:59

It is pretty much his fault if he didn’t bother telling you isn’t it? I wouldn’t feel too much pressure to find something else!

Frapped · 11/12/2022 09:02

I would give them to him on Christmas day and explain the situation. Tell him he can invite some friends or sell them to fund a really good day out with his brother before the gig.

Also this.

He may even learn a lesson!

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 11/12/2022 09:18

He already knows! Yesterday a song came in the radio which reminded him of a concert I’m going to next year which obviously I told him about before booking anything…. Then he casually mentioned he’s going to this concert with his brother. So that’s how I found out! It’s just unfortunate really, but I did have strong words about how it’s polite to mention these things, never mind the Christmas issue, just in general so we both know what’s going on.

He’s not bothered at all, and won’t expect a replacement present. Obviously I had got him a couple of other bits so he will have things to open. I just really hope I do manage to do something with them as that would be a terrible waste of money if not!

There are loads of ticket sales sites on Facebook advertise as selling sell through PayPal goods (they take 2.9 %) but buyers will be happy knowing they won't be scammed.

Lotsofthings · 11/12/2022 09:32

Why don’t guy give him the tickets anyway for now. Maybe they can go with some friends, sell them on to them at a reduced price, meet for drinks.

Theopossumwasmeantforme · 11/12/2022 11:49

Can see why his brother bought them if he's going with him tbh. Might have thought you'd have mentioned it if he was getting one of the tickets. I'd just give them anyway and let them decide what to do!
