What time do you arrive?
Just wondering. It’s at the person’s home, in case that makes a difference.

A sleepover?

Just to throw a cat in among the pigeons, I am too old and too boring to be bothered with late nights, so on the odd occasion we invite a group around for drinks and food, it's usually on a Sunday afternoon. We make it clear we'd be delighted to see them any time between X time and Y time, with Y time being the end of the afternoon/very early evening. That way, we have a lovely social time in the afternoon, they all leave promptly so they have the evening to focus on rest/getting ready for work etc the next day, we have that time to clear up and recover. Works for us. Some people turn up on the dot of X time, some people not long before Y time, doesn't matter.

After many years of people being late for the time I say I usually go with "you're welcome any time from X. Food will be at Y."

Then X can vary depending how helpful the guest is and whether they will help out or stress you out. If things might not be ready by time X I point that out so it's not a surprise.

The OP doesn't say "any time from 7.30 though?!
It clearly says time as 7.30!

Then I’d arrive at 7.30 why wouldn’t you ?

29 mins is fashionably late....

'Fashionably late' hasn't been a thing since the turn of the millennium

fancyacuppatea · 09/12/2022 08:30

7.30.

That's the time on the invitation...why would you be deliberately late?

DappledThings · 09/12/2022 09:46

7.30. I never understand this idea that the time doesn't mean the time. If I wanted people not to turn up till 7.45 I would say 7.45.

shumway · 09/12/2022 10:28

7.25 probably knowing me.
