Hot chocolate flakes

Last year on peoples on here recommendations I purchased marks and Spencer’s hot chocolate flakes which we loved. They seem to not be stocking them
this year and I’m really struggling to find an alternative that doesn’t break the bank! Any ideas?

Lindt milk chocolate flakes are popular in this household. Can highly recommend. Creamy and delicious.

Not sure if they're still widely available: seems to be Lindt powder form stocked in supermarkets at moment.
(This tin had been residing, unopened, in the recesses of kitchen cupboard for a couple of years...)

Tesco www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/310666976

I saw these recommended on here last year and got them recently. Good reviews from the kids. They sell Parisian (with sugar) and Belgian style - no sugar. Also sell them by the kilo.

Those Tesco ones are a good price though

I saw hot chocolate flakes in M&S yesterday.

I buy the kilo bags from Pendragon - very popular in this house

DailyMaui · 08/12/2022 19:54

Oh wow those Pendragon hot chocolate flakes look amazing. Has anyone tried the different flavours? Any recommendations? The chocolate raspberry one looks like it would be wonderful...

livingthegoodlife · 08/12/2022 20:00

Differing opinion - very much disliked the Pendragon ones. Found them sweet & artificial but maybe that was just what we ordered.

I stick to hotel chocolat & m&s now.

Blabla81 · 08/12/2022 20:04

I get the hotel chocolat 70% and the mint. Anything else I’ve tried has been too sweet or weak for me.

Knoops all the way

Callebaut dark chocolate flakes (from Amazon if you can get them). I don't drink hot chocolate anymore due to lactose intolerance and no substitutes tasting right but DH and the kids think they're amazing.

A tip - most hot chocolate seems to need a pinch of salt. Particularly helpful if you think it's too sweet.

ScrambledSmegs · 08/12/2022 20:12

Just realised the Callebaut is described as ground dark chocolate, in case you can't find it.

catsonahottinroof · 08/12/2022 21:39

I thought this thread was going to be about small Cadbury's flakes that you put in your hot chocolate like at Costa. I like Hotel Chocolat sachets, but I've only tried the chilli chocolate one.

They are stocking them in my two nearest M&S branches (was eyeing them up!)

We’re they the milk ones? In a red and white packet? I have only been able to find dark chocolate ones and I’m not a fan!

@DailyMaui we got milk, white and gingerbread hot chocolate. DD says the white one is delicious.

I will have to get the M&S one soon to compare. Got to go and see if I can find their foot long pigs in blanket anyway!
