Special Chocolate Biscuit Recommendations

I'd like to buy a box/tin of assorted chocolate covered biscuits for the Christmas period, but I'm feeling very uninspired. We used to like the M&S boxes years ago, but the quality seemed to really go downhill a few years back. The McVitie Victoria ones are nice enough, but I'd prefer something a bit more special. I've had a look on the Fortnums website as I'm getting some Toffolossus for my husband's stocking as they're his absolute favourites, and I think I might get some gingerlossus for us as a family, but they don't seem to have a selection of just chocolate biscuits. I'm not sure where else to look. Any recommendations?

I accidentally ended up with some ringtons ones and they look lovely. The tin is beautiful. Not opened them yet though 😂

HelloJackieULookNice · 07/12/2022 16:08

I just googled Ringtons - is it the xmas door tin? The flavours do sound lovely, but they're out of stock. I hope yours live up to their promise.

This is probably the one you want from Fortums but unfortunately they are out of stock.

Have to say I'm pretty partial to Bahlsen chocolate biscuits. Good ratio of chocolate to biscuit!
Not sure if they do mixed selections in a tin, though.

Perhaps you could get a few packets separately and mix them in a festive tin yourself?

RethinkingLife · 07/12/2022 16:21

Those [X]lossus biscuits sound good and the tins are beautiful (the cherry and ginger ones in particular). However, at that price, just how many biscuits are there for 600g, please? (I'm thinking of relatives who would inadvertently eat 6 or so at a time.)

Theopossumwasmeantforme · 07/12/2022 16:30

Yes it's the door one! I'm not surprised they're out of stock because they sent mine by accident and let me keep them and I bet I'm not on my own 😂

Selfridges have a nice box of chocolate biscuits. I quite like those m&s Belgian ones though!

Yep, thought I'd seen a chocolately assortment in the past, thanks! Will give them a try at some point.

You know, I probably wouldn't even have thought of making up my own selection, but if I can't find anything that grabs me, I might just do that.

I asked my husband if he remembered and he guessed 15. Then I asked him did they not come with two halves separately packaged and he said maybe 14.... maybe 12... 😆So I don't know, but it's not a lot. They are very chunky though, so they probably wouldn't get through 6 at a time, but at that price, they're not really for sharing. 😉When I spoke about getting the ginger ones for us as a family I meant just my husband, son and myself. I won't be offering them to visiting family. 😳It's nice to see they're selling refill packs now though, so I'll opt for those.

My favourites are the pistachio clotted cream ones. But I'm of the opinion that a biscuit doesn't need to have a chocolate component to be utterly delicious, whereas my husband profoundly disagrees.

Love Bahlsens!

But you might be looking for Hotel Chocolat Biscuits of the Gods www.hotelchocolat.com/uk/shop/collections/products/biscuits/

Or Waitrose ultimate chocolate biscuit selection

Oh they'll be even more delicious because you weren't supposed to have them! I had a look on the Selfridges website but they don't list what's in the tin, and I like to know what I'm getting before I buy.

Oh the biscuits of the Gods sound right up my street - I love a shortbread! Thank you, I shall be asking for those in my stocking. 🙂

Still need something with a bit more variety though. I'll be near a Waitrose at the weekend, so I might well give those a punt.

Maybe try a tin of the Fox's chocolatey biscuit selection whilst you are in Waitrose?

RethinkingLife · 08/12/2022 00:24

Not chocolate but I'm ridiculously fond of Nyakers Gingersnaps.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 08/12/2022 17:14

I buy the Fox's chocolatey selection every year

Snoopsnoggysnog · 08/12/2022 17:17

I would go for Foxes or I think Waitrose have got some kind of extremely chocolatey type ones.
I also love Bahlsen and the DIY mix idea is great!

RedSauceSpaghetti · 08/12/2022 17:25

Hotel Chocolat do biscuits of the Gods and, boy, are they godly

AdelineLou · 08/12/2022 17:39

How about the ‘famous’ Yorkshire institution - Betty’s.

Thanks, will check out Betty's and Nyaker's gingersnaps.
