Any book suggestions for a very nearly nine year old girl who loves Jacqueline Wilson and Roald Dahl please? Stand alone or series suggestions gratefully recieved!

Thanks :)

Thanks for this.

I've been a bit shocked at the number of books where the parents are dead/absent. Or the children describe their parents as brain dead for not buying them an iPhone...

Can you tell I don't have children yet?!

Hard to have an adventure with your parents hanging around!

I get it, the parents need to be absent for most of the adventures to happen, but it is often lazy writing so: mum dies, dad is largely absent working and child left to themselves. Or whatever.

It's just refreshing to see a story that is well written with lovely parents.

The Clockwork Crow trilogy by Catherine Fisher

Podkin One Ear by Keiran Larwood

Chrestomanci series by Diana Wynne Jones

I found this book interesting - How Dad made me a superhero. My 7 year old read this quite a few time on just 2 days .. He's actually overcoming his little fears and open to explore the scary situations. I happy with this book.
