Help ! Does this sound weird ?

I've ordered my dd and her partner a Xmas bauble as they are buying their first house together

I got it inscribed with their names and "for every Christmas you spend together "
Love mum

Does that sound weird ? Does it sound like I aren't expecting them to last ? I'm panicking now .

I think it's a wonderful thoughtful gift OP.
I think they will love it! Even more special for the lovely words. X

And rest assured it doesn't sound anything like you're not expecting them to last. If anything it suggests the opposite x

Lovely idea op. If my MIL got that for me I'd cherish it.

lightisnotwhite · 02/12/2022 03:01

Well I guess you could interpret it like that but if they have a sense of humour it should be fine. They can get it out every Christmas and laugh that they are still together.
I wouldn’t think it means you want them not to last.

Lovely pressie. Yeah, the wording is a bit strange tbh, does imply they'll not spend all
Christmases together. But don't over think it, they'll know what you're trying to say and love it.

I've cancelled. Need a rethink.

Why not something like...

Name and Name
First Christmas in your new home
2022

Ihavedogs · 02/12/2022 13:41

Lovely present idea, but I would rethink the wording. You could keep it simple and just have the year on it and it may be something you could do every year.

ConfusedGin · 02/12/2022 13:52

As it's to mark their first year in this home, could you add the road name and year (and then somehow remember to replicate every Christmas that they have moved)

WashableVelvet · 02/12/2022 13:55

“The first of many happy Christmases in your new home” perhaps?

SalviaOfficinalis · 02/12/2022 13:56

It does sound a bit morbid… glad you were able to cancel!

“The first of many happy Christmases in your new home” perhaps?

That’s lovely wording.
