Amazon fire tablet

I’m struggling to decide what to get my daughter for Xmas, she is 11 she has an amazon fire tablet which I thought she was due an upgrade from but unfortunately she doesn’t really look after her stuff I was going to buy her an iPad but I’m not anymore but I’m stuck on ideas! Would getting another amazon fire tablet but bigger be pointless? She currently has the basic 7 one, is the 10 much better or not really worth replacing it for a bigger size?

We had the 10 and replaced with a 7 after it died (of old age) the 10 was so much better.
You can get nice cases for them too.

Buy a Samsung tablet instead. Much better than a fire tablet and much cheaper than an iPad.

Every fire tablet we have had has been a waste of money - slow and unresponsive and can't keep up with the kids

Mykittensmittens · 29/11/2022 21:35

Same - useless bit of kit.

I literally got a bigger fire as basically a little TV for the kitchen or bedroom while pottering/watching catchup stuff.

I do nothing on it other than that (so no storage compromise or anything). My only apps are bbc, c4, Netflix.

it can’t cope with that. It constantly hangs and buffers. Switch to watching the same thing on my phone on the same internet connection and it’s fine.

it’s very clunky!

I do like a Samsung tablet, the cheaper ones are great for kids your dds age, but it's twice the price of a fire tablet, and given your dd isn't that great with her stuff I'd be hesitant to spend too much for another few years. Fire hd 10 is on offer right now for £89, and the hd 10 plus for £109. Hd 10 plus has some fab reviews. It can be wireless charged and a wireless keyboard can be added to turn it into a laptop.

Protective cases are available for almost any tablet

SpinningFloppa · 29/11/2022 21:47

That’s the thing I don’t want to pay a lot of money as she doesn’t take care of her stuff she’s just done something to her tablet meaning I had to factory reset it and it lost all of her stuff including games I had paid for her siblings are getting consoles etc so I don’t want her presents to seem rubbish in comparison

The Samsung a7 is £149 and A8 £159 right now on Argos, think offer ends tonight. Like pp you can get some good protective cases from amazon if you want to move away from fire tablets and want a decent, affordable tablet.

We just recently replaced our kids 7s with 10 pros and they are far superior

JellyBellies · 01/12/2022 06:07

A factory reset will not lose any games you have paid for but she will lose any saved data in those games

SpinningFloppa · 01/12/2022 08:20

That’s good to know I honestly thought I would have to pay for them all over again! I decided against getting the other one as hers does work it was more just an upgrade but I’m not a huge fan of them myself so I am going to look at the other suggestions. Thanks
