Artificial wreath berries

Does anyone else have this problem with artificial wreaths that are hung on the front door- the red coating on the berries peals off in the weather exposing the polystyrene white balls underneath? Doesn't matter the quality of the wreath - happens every time. Have had new wreath from Stewart's up for approx 3 days and come home to find red coating on floor from almost half the berries and white polystyrene balls exposed. Have checked the packaging and no mention of being for indoor use only etc so going to take it back and try and exchange it for a new one when I get a chance. Does anyone else have this problem and how do you overcome it? Take the wreath in in inclement weather? Spray a special coating on it?

Try red glass beads on green coated wire?

I’ve never had that problem.

Could it be magpies are picking at the wreath or something?

Do you have a ring doorbell or blink or anything so you could see if anything was at your door up to no good?

Thank you for replies so far - no the front door I wouldn't say is easily accessible by birds - think it is when rain gets on them and gets them wet it sort of dissolves the red coating. Unfortunately I don't have a ring doorbell to so can't verify this though!

We have had this problem… gone for the non artificial wreaths the last couple of years as the artificial wreaths seem to last the same amount of time, look better and cost similar

Water based paint? If you are keeping the wreath, try red nail polish instead.

Thank you - I will take it to Stewart's and see what they say. Just seems ridiculous to sell a wreath to hang on an outside door if it can't last a few days, let alone the whole season. I wanted an artificial one as had intended to keep it to use each year!
