Work do an annual appeal for gifts for kids. This year the ages are given, so I picked 14 year old boy and girl, as people often prefer to buy for younger children. What are things for maximum £20 that might be desired? Amazon's first suggestion was a bottle of Johnnie Walker, which may well be what they actually want, but probably not appropriate!

For a girl- make up, skin care, nice stationery. For a boy- branded T shirt, cap or socks eg Nike, gift set of shower gel and deo. Gift card for Nandos, Costa etc (depending on location).

I don't know who your recipients are but local collection (for children in care) advises against anything tech related- people give earphones and phone cases and often the children don't have a phone to use them with.

Sorry, that should say "our local collection".

My 14 year old is getting a fridge, VR headset and chair as his main things then:

blue gaming glasses
disco lights
some games (exploding kittens etc...)
some books (would you rather etc...)
movie poster
magic 8 ball

other teenboy ideas could be watch, aftershave, wallet, blanket with design, hat etc...

for a girl things like mist sprays (popular with teen girls), jewellery, eyeshadows (avoid foundations etc... as they need to be skin matched), acessories like belts, hats, handbags, purses, things for their rooms like lighting or photo displays etc...

Some great ideas, thank you. @Eleusa it does need to be things that don't require batteries, as the household may not be able to afford replacing them. @mam0918 good point about not getting a set with foundation in. I was more into thick goth eyeliner as a teenager, nothing like today's young people.

My 15 year old has had new dr martens as her big present the last couple of years. This year she has asked for Jimmy Choo perfume and a Jumper dress. She isnt fussed she says, but I know her and she would be gutted if that was all she got. I need to find some inexpensive treats and practicle things. She has a switch, she doesnt do tat. So I am looking for inspiration

@BalletMum75 it would be best to start your own thread. Especially as this one was for a charity appeal and your daughter's taste in gifts seems inappropriate for a thread like this one.

Led strip lights. I detest them but my teen loves having them in her room.

Ooh thats a bit passive aggressive. I am dyslexic and missed that bit scrolling through the replies and title!

@BalletMum75 sorry I apologise and didn't mean to offend you 🙂
It's just you must have had to gone searching for this thread as it's from last year. Better to start a new one.

For a girl I'd do a little basket of things.

Superdrug do lovely body sprays suitable for a teen , they are 2 for £7 so I'd get two of those. Link
They also do a shower gel that smells like the lush snow fairy one.

I'd then go to Primark and get some face & hair masks (they're about 80p) , fluffy Xmas socks, a lip balm, a detangling brush & some scrunchies and hair clips.

Just realised this is from last year 🙈. Ignore me
