A while back I saw a picture of large baubles used hanging from the ceiling and looked really good but struggling to replicate as I didn’t save the picture! I have a large, open ground floor, painted white ceilings with spot lights, (and white walls) can anyone share theirs with me or point me in the direction of what might look good please?

Have you looked on Pinterest?

Xmasdec · 28/11/2022 15:01

I have yes, the ones I really work I don’t think will work as I rent and would require a bit to hold them up and I only really want to use command strip/hooks. The baubles hanging from the ceiling look… I worry it will look like a primary school! It is a big area to cover! No idea how to do it stylish!

I don't do any Christmas decorations on the ceiling, think it would be hard to do unless on grand scale? What colours are you thinking?

Xmasdec · 28/11/2022 15:06

Or the other thing I could do is create a nice lit up arch type thing in the area that links the open plan? But there is no wall area for the top of the arch, just the ceiling.. any ideas for that that could work with attaching?

Get some of those hooks that you can easily take down. I completely forget their name. Hopefully you know the type. Then hook lights over. Get some metal hooks and then hang some baubles off the light cables.

if you’re on tik tok, in the search bar out Christmas ceiling. You’ll get a video. Looks better than what I am trying to describe.

I’ve just remembered. Command picture hook things.

Xmasdec · 28/11/2022 19:51

@wewishyouamerrychristmas i saw that! It’s such a big area I would need loads.

im now thinking some kind of archway thing? But it’s two walls and a ceiling? How would I attach the top part to the ceiling can anyone tell me??

I have snow flakes hanging from the ceiling. I love them got them off AliExpress. Not everyones cup of tea but I love them.

Can you pls share you ceiling decoration ideas?

They are nice @ilovetea14 but if I had throes I would need a lot plus I’d have to paint them as the walls and ceilings are all white so looking for more or a feature.

can anyone tell me how they hold up garlands? I mean the fake greenery ones with lights?

Op you want to hang From ceiling but without anything attached?
I've always Hung from ceiling we used to use cello tape and now command hook's.

The command hook's stay up all year you can hardly see them.
Where paint has come off I just dab new paint on and no one notices.

We hang snowflakes and all sorts of things, it looks sensational.

Xmasdec · 29/11/2022 22:55

@Puddywoodycat i want to hang a Garland, so a pre lit foliage type garland up one wall, across the ceiling (about 6 foot) and down the other side of the wall? So like an archway as it is the ironing into the other room but there is no arch… just ceiling if that makes sense? So I don’t know how to use command strips on the ceiling and the garland stay on it or will a couple of those massive white ones work but that look rubbish?! I’m thinking of the weight…

For the arch way I’ve seen people use chicken wire either attached with command hooks or tied to poles then the foliage or bauble attached. Try searching on tik tok loads are doing it this year

Xmasdec · 29/11/2022 23:38

@Catsonskis ok..: so command hooks and then attach chicken wire to the hooks.. how? Just poke the holes of the chicken wire through the hooks? Not sure how it would stand up? Then how would I do the ceiling part?

I’ll have to get on TikTok!

Have you come up with anything @Xmasdec?

I just saw an idea on Pinterest for a fireplace that could work with your arch that isn’t an arch!

It was two groups 3 largish bauble hung at different heights at either end. You could do that either end of your ceiling with command hooks - they are light so easy to do. And then you could just string some lights along the ceiling again using command hooks.

Xmasdec · 03/12/2022 12:57

@Peridot1 my garlands are delayed!!! I have command ceiling hooks but won’t know how well this will work until i get the garlands. That is a good idea though what you are suggesting, thank you, so I’ll keep that in mind!
