A thread to show your decorations.

If you don’t like what someone has done then just keep it to yourself.

We've had a complete change this year.

Show off yours!

And you can buy the branches separately.

I’ve gone full on nostalgic 80’s Christmas this year. I normally do a nice white/duck egg blue, silver tree but the last few years I have felt it looked a bit cold and I was really craving the rich jewel colours! I couldn’t find the proper coloured multicoloured lights, they needed the acid pink tone so thanks to a thread on here, I coloured in the bulb of a set of white lights with sharpies and now my tree glows with that traditional 80’s glow!
we are having building work starting so I am not putting loads of other decs up but we have set up the Lemax village.

I love a big, full tree. The big baubles are great.

We put ours up last night, it would usually be 1st weekend of December but the kids were excited for it and it was nice to start the advent calendars with the decs up :)

@Margepettifer I got it this year, I think it was from John Lewis Grin

I nearly bought that one too! But got the jukebox instead and the robot one

this is the igloo

Here's another photo with the main light on, that's a normal size snow globe in the front if that gives a better scale.

This is so cute! I really want this for my foster dogs

This so far. My lights on the arch have been changed to warm white. Didn't like the cool.

I love this thread and seeing how everyone is decorating their homes for Christmas. I’m a minimalist at heart and I like simple and traditional details. Here are some pics from last year. It will be the same setup and I'll be using the same Christmas decorations, stockings, and wrapping paper, etc..

Lovely thread 🙂

@AthenaWhite are they bells around the candle? Looks pretty, I think I need to do something like that for my coffee table.

bippityboppity87 · 03/12/2022 12:15

Just put my Christmas tree up last night. Not sure if I need more decorations or not 🤔

Priam I know it’s not the point of the thread but what colour is the green paint on your walls, it’s lovely.

Thank you. I don’t know the colour I’m afraid as we had it mixed in trade paint. I’m fairly sure it’s a copy of a F&B colour.

I’ve remembered. It’s Dulux trade Mackerel. www.duluxtradepaintexpert.co.uk/en/colours/mackerel-1098766

Nice. Liking lots of these.

Got all decorations down from loft. Christmas tree up, needs some preening. Some of my very old decorations are damaged, badly beyond repair, but I don't care.

Added a few more today. Between working full time/long commute/single parent/generally rundown, it’s been tricky finding time to finish it properly. Found myself rejigging it a few times this week.

I let DD6 go wild with the fireplace tree. Handed her the traditional box and had zero input.

@luckylavender the 27 was Advent Sunday, the evening of the 26 was the first service of Advent. So you’re wrong. And even if you weren’t, each to their own.
Love all the trees. We’re a more is more family. I like brown paper and this year wanted to go with Washi tape for environmental reasons but I went a bought a shed load of naff Christmas paper last year (I don’t even like it, what was I thinking?!) that I think I’ll have to use. 😞 unless I use the naff stuff from Father Christmas 🤔

Kucingsparkles · 10/12/2022 07:48

Bumping this thread as I have a question (and wasn't sure if it merited its own thread) as we'll be getting our tree today.

Every year we usually trim a few branches off our tree to fit it in the stand and/or to even up the shape. Sometimes I stick the cut branches in a vase of water to decorate another room, but this year I was wondering about laying them on the mantelpiece to create a sort of garland-y thing with some baubles and battery candles.

I'm in search of tips from anybody who has done this. The main two being: (1) How do you keep them green? (2) Do they leave a sappy stain-y mess on the mantelpiece?
