Looking for Gifts for 5 year old: Den Building Kit

My 5 year old loves building dens. To save our sofa cushions (and ensure we have somewhere to sit on come the evening!) I am considering a den building kit for him. I am however concerned about how big they actually are and how easy for him to build.

So can you recommend (or not recommend) a den building kit you have? Any other ideas for 5 year old boys (who has older siblings so already have a lot of things for that age!) also welcome.

We have this one from the works - our DD needed a bit of help with it when she was younger but has been able to put the bits together easily since she was about 7. We then drape a sheet or blanket over it for her. There are lots of ways you can put it together and make different designs. She’s plays with it a lot!

We have one like this: Your Own Den Kit 72 Piece Kids Building Construction Fort Tent Making Set amzn.eu/iyMbXQN A 5-year-old would need help to build it. Two kits give a lot more flexibility than one. I have a king size flat sheet to go over the top and some battery powered lights inside. It does make a huge den but it's quick to break down and put away when you're done with it.

This one’s simple and good value www.earlyyearsresources.co.uk/imaginative-play-c13/playhouses-and-structures-c483/den-kit-p83463

We have something called Crazy Forts from Amazon. My 6 year old does need help building but then disappears in it for a while. She’s asleep in it now. It doesn’t have amazing structural integrity but that doesn’t bother my kid. If you want to include older kids then you can get 2 sets and build mega dens

My den loving 6 year old also loves snap circuits and a non competitive board game called outfoxed

I really like the look of this one, the review pictures show it is strong enough to put blankets on. Some of these type apparently aren't though.

Thanks for all the suggestions for forts. And also for the extra suggestions.
@wouldthatbeworse was considering snap circuits for our 7yo. Good to know they were liked!

Our GCs love this, two kits give greater options. Even the 4 year old can make it.

I saw this one up in store and bought it for my 6yr old for Christmas, I haven’t tested how easy it is to put away yet though. Hopefully easy as we don’t have the space to keep it up!

We have one of the ball and stick type kits and it has had a lot of use, dc3 is now 10 and it still gets made in to various dens.

We've also gone through plenty of snap circuits over the years with various dc.

I'm also going to say hobbycraft!
