Keeping a tree outside for 2 weeks

We're away visiting relatives before Christmas, getting back on 23rd December.

I'd like to buy our (real) tree before we go away as I don't want to be rushing about on Christmas Eve. So I'd be buying it on 15th. It should be very fresh as I can get it from the farm. But there won't be anyone around to water it.

Thinking of leaving it in a bucket outside 15th-23rd, and hope for a bit of rain. Do you think this will be ok? Would you leave the net on or take it off?

We have done this before and it was ok. We left the net on and just propped it up in the garden, it was fine.

We’ve left one outside for maybe a week, bottom couple of inches sawn off, in a bucket of water, net left on. Stayed nice and fresh until 12th Night.
