5yo asking for 8+ Lego from father Christmas

So just posted on the bargain thread but probably better here. My newly 5yo Ds is Lego and Ninjago mad. He asked for a Kai motorbike so I bought him the 4+ model (it's about £9). He's now seen the 8+ super charger 71737 which shoots out the motorbike and wants father Christmas to bring it. He's adamant father Christmas knows he's a 'master builder' and he could manage it. It's another £32 on offer which I can do (😣) but I don't want it to be too much for him to manage, on the other hand I don't want him to be disappointed..what do I do?

It will be totally fine, he might just need a bit of help. I loved that age, I'm not allowed to help with Lego any more, so now I get my own!

I'd give it to him if he's able to follow the instructions. My 12 year old does the adult ones with zero help.

My ds is 5 and can do 7+ on his own and 8+ with help/us checking he's followed the instructions properly. If you can afford it and would be willing to give him some help, I probably would get it.

My 5yo does the 9+ with only a wee bit of help. It's just a rough guide. I'm 42 and I'd abandon it in disgust after about half a minute.

Agree with everyone else but this is adorable. You can’t argue with that😍
