Posca Pens

DD has some Posca Pens on her Christmas list. I think she's used them at a friend's house and is now desperate for some. Can't believe the price of them! Does anyone know anywhere that does offers on them or can recommend a cheaper alternative? The reviews on them are really good so I know that the price must reflect the quality but even so... Thanks in advance!

Rymans had some offers I think. They are expensive but my DD loves them and uses them a lot so value for money.

BedTaker · 23/11/2022 16:27

I have bought some from Rymans, they were a tenner off so (only!) 30 quid instead of 40.

Are they really that good?

RatSlave · 23/11/2022 16:28

You can buy cheap acrylic paint pens but in the case of POSCA it is getting what you pay for as the quality of them is a hell of a lot better. Cultpens usually has them on offer.

I got mine on offer earlier this year, from Ryman's, as they were on DDs birthday list. They have been worth the price tag. DD uses them at every opportunity, she's also taken to decorating white mugs with them.

RatSlave · 23/11/2022 16:29

In fact they are 20% off in Cultpens and you can buy them individually too.

Tooliart are very good too but Posca are fantastic. Be aware they have different nib sizes so check what she needs.

ScratchyScratch · 23/11/2022 16:37

Will have a look at Rymans and Cultpens, thank you!
@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor Ah, I have no idea what nib size she'd need... I think she just wants to draw with them, will ask her!

I got some recently for DD from ryaman on offer and some more on ocado. 14.

They are really really good and already dd has had lots of fun playing with them.

I do recommend them.bit you need something's for them to draw on. Ceramics or canvas...

I bought my DD's Posca pens from Hobbycraft a few weeks back when they had a half price sale on them. So I got a £40 pack for £20. I'm not sure if they will run that sale or something similar again before Christmas but worth keeping an eye on Hobbycraft too. It's also a great place to pick up 'blanks' for her to use the pens on. I picked up some ceramic baubles, canvases, black art paper, pebbles etc.

Puddywoodycat · 24/11/2022 07:27

Black art paper is a good Idea

I have two very arty teenage girls and have bought this to share
(was cheaper than this a few weeks ago)
It looks amazing! 54 in the set - variety of sizes.

They are really good to be fair. We had some and they lasted years, some are still going from about 5 years ago.

OrangeBanana22 · 24/11/2022 18:46

I use posca pens for work (I work with balloons so use them to write on them every day) and we actually switched to a different slightly cheaper brand called Lyra pens and honestly they are better more pigmented paint and cheaper if that helps!

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 24/11/2022 23:53

We got a cheaper version, I’m not sure if it was the brand or nib size but weren’t as good. We’ve got the much sought after posca pens in the thick nip now so hopefully she will be happy. They were 50% off in hobby craft for a long time but I missed that. Keep an eye out if they go back on sale.

allthecrooksandnannies · 25/11/2022 00:03

Can anyone tell me if thick or thin are better? I don’t know which ones my son wants and don’t want to ask too much either!

Thanks

user1471533733 · 28/11/2022 03:19

I spotted a them in Tesco yesterday £15, they are the thinner / fine ones, if I need a thicker line I just tend to draw a double line to make it thicker.
this is the Tesco set and if you have a club card they often send money off vouchers in the post.

Ocado have one set half price at the moment, so £14.
