I had dd late November and out my tree up when I came home. I remember hoovering around her while she was unconcious asleep in her pram

I would. The gentle twinkling lights will be nice to sit beside if you're up at night.

MarshaMelrose · 20/11/2022 19:05

Yes. One less thing to think about afterwards.

No because I couldn't be arsed taking it down when I'd have a newborn.

You'll fucking hate that tree

This 100%

I’ve been in this situation twice. First time I went in for induction on the 27th, DD no 3 was finally born on the 30th. I had two older DC who are used to me going all out with the Xmas decs so we all did it together over the weekend before I went into hospital on the Monday. It was so lovely to bring new Baby DD home to a lovely cosy Christmassy house.

Second time I was pregnant with twins and my planned c section date was again the 30th. We had been decorating and DH was really busy trying to get the floor laid and all sorts done so no decorations went up beforehand. It was so crazy once I was home with the twins that we didn’t get round to putting up the tree until just a few days before Christmas.

This year I’m knackered, the twins turn one soon and whilst I love all things Christmas and all the decorations I do wonder where I’m going to find the energy 🤣

Yes! The year I had my November baby I was so organised! All presents bought and wrapped, Christmas cupboard stocked with festive treats and decorations including tree were up! I'm really glad because it felt like I blinked after he was born and it was Christmas day. I wish I could be that organised every year but I sadly lack the motivation without an impending newborn.

I was induced this time last year and we didn’t put the tree up before I went in. We did it around the first week in December, which is when we’d usually do it. DH put it up while I sat with DD. It was nice having something to look forward to and DD loved the lights when she was about 4 weeks old. My tree wasn’t quite as nice as it usually is but I didn’t care, it was nice doing it as a little 3.

You've just ignited a memory. DS was born by section on the 28th Nov (almost!) six years ago.

I put the tree up slowly and surely over the space of an afternoon on, I think, the 4th December as he sat in his bouncy chair blinking away at all the twinkly lights. Awwwww memories 😭😂

BooksAndHooks · 21/11/2022 17:18

Yes I definitely would, all done out the way ready to enjoy babies first Christmas.

If there’s someone helping it’s fine. I remember taking ours down with a 2 day old baby and the midwives turning up. It was chaos but it was fine. Actually I preferred that year as I hate taking everything down and I got away with sitting with my feet up whilst DH did most of it.

Luellie · 21/11/2022 17:23

We put ours up last year mid-December when DS was about a month old... the beauty of this scenario is I sat feeding him, and then he fell asleep on me so I couldn't possibly have moved. I got to sit and be creative director whilst DH did all the actual work Grin would highly recommend

FridayNightIsWineNight · 21/11/2022 17:42

I would - it'll be lively coming home from hospital knowing it's all done.

How did you get on OP? Hope all is well ❤️
