Sewing machine for dd - recommendations!

Dd is 9 and im looking at getting her a sewing machine for her main Christmas present. I am a decent seamstress and have a fab Toyota machine I've had for years, but I think dd would appreciate her own to get started on.

I was looking at the Hobbycraft midi machine but it has very mixed reviews. I'd ideally not like to spend more than £100 - does anyone have any recommendations?

The midi one will be lightweight and crappy and frustrating to use.

I'd recommend one like this, which is on offer in hobbycraft. She won't outgrow it for a very long time.

I got the cheapest John Lewis own make one for my son who requested one for xmas, he made curtains for his own room and for my kitchen but then lost interest. A decade later I'm still using it for the odd item such as curtains/mending and still going strong. It was well less than £100 but don't know how much now.

I would get a good basic one rather than a cheap small one. Janome are excellent starter machines that are easy to use.

Yes I was tempted by the midi one as it was smaller but I think it will likely be rubbish so I'd rather get a full size one. Will check out the recommendations thank you!
