Avoiding the twitch!

Just one more planned purchase. Otherwise I am done with presents. In previous years though I have struggled with the dreaded twitch. Share your twitches here.

Bought DH’s watch. Last planned present purchase. Fingers crossed 🤞 it will stay that way.

I bought three £20 Roblox vouchers for my kids yesterday as my youngest requested one and they all play.

My twitches this year are more around wanting to buy additional decorations. I bought the xmas Hamish the cow with light up wreath round his neck from Next yesterday. He's gorgeous 😁

Bloody hell I have been twitching like I'm being electrocuted. Absolutely 100% DONE now.

🤣 It was inevitable. I bought a knitted mouse decoration off Etsy. It was £10 but it is an independent seller.
We have a white Syrian hamster called Lucy and DD(20) & I joked that she shares resemblances with lots of the little furry tree ornaments. So…..

As there's a week to go (well six shopping days plus the rest of today ) we're venturing into The Prime Twitch Territory .

I bought some slipper socks for DD ( M&S , I was in the queue )
I did like the Spencer Bear ones but they look too much like one of our old guinea-pigs so I couldn't !

Twitches in the last 2 weeks, kids money box safe (dd3), kids wireless headphones (dd3), makeup brushes (dd1), board game, (all DDs), 3 lots of paint by numbers sets (all DDs) and meditation candles (DH).

Also ended up buying 2 wine gift sets because DH didn’t talk to his DB about just doing DC gifts like we arranged with his DS, which then made me feel I couldn’t turn up at a family gathering with gifts for all the adults except the hosts who are the only ones we agreed not to do adult gifts with. And an extra gift for MIL as DH ALSO hadn’t told me he’d bought FIL extra gifts from a work trip, which have gone in his Christmas bag making it look like FIL has way more than MIL (not DHs mum). We don’t see them regularly so can’t really hold anything back until another date.

I twitched and got DD a bloody Air up water bottle as she didnt seem to have quite enough, then found a forgotten Switch game I got ages ago in the sale and hid which would have rounded her pile off nicely. I think those bottles are such a waste of money and far too ostentatious for a child and said I would never buy her one, but she will be thrilled.

I then thought i needed to twitch for student DS to even things out but went back through some messages and saw we wrote off a large loan to him as a christmas pressie, but I have then got him stuff, so he is getting nowt more.

I am miraculously twitch-free! 😇

I doubt I'll ever manage it again. 🤣

I am fighting the twitch but have failed so often these last few weeks! Not helped by the fact that the house is utter chaos so I can’t find anything, and as I’m (trying) to sort it ready for Christmas I finding things I’d hidden away and forgotten about 🤦‍♀️ Plus I can’t physically go to any shops this year so did all my shopping online, and with the parcel delays again I keep forgetting what I’ve ordered till it turns up.,

Still a week to go though Fluffs just sayin' .................

I had an expensive twitch this morning. Got my husband an Amazon voucher to go towards a game he wants that doesnt release till next year, DD13 a desk organiser, DD10 a Lego set and DS11 a switch game.

Absolutely cannot twitch again as that is 2 twitches now and I was meant to be doing a reduced Christmas to prepare the kids for what is likely to be a much cleaner christmas next year. But instead I've kind of gone fuck it, once last mad christmas before our new mortgage eats any spare money we might have.

Buying last of presents for nieces and saw lol clubhouse on sale for €30- dd already has the actual house, plane and car. Why oh why 😭
Then had to even out the presents so got lego Minecraft for other dd
how do we stop?!! They have enough😭

Lord help me I twitched last night. I was wrapping, it was midnight and I twitched horribly buying £100 worth of stuff for my son because the pile looked so small wrapped, Pokemon cards and 2 switch games agghhhh

I twitched last week and came out with a bagful of toys from Smyths .

In my defence, DD only gets presents for me and my dad, no extended family - so I do go OTT.

I'm resisting twitching 😇.

STOP ME! I twitched last night a big one, and now I’m sat here with my son and his mate unable to play 2 player PlayStation because one of his controllers have packed in!

I'm looking at shoes for my DS but resisting as I think I need to drag the little swine out to physically try them on.

I saw the Private Eye 2022 annual and thought for only £6.50 it was a good extra gift for DH. Even though it could have arrived after Christmas. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Still ordered it and it arrived today. Now wrapped. I best not get him anymore because I have five for him and he won’t be pleased if he has far less for me than I do for him.

I don’t do big twitches thankfully because there’s nothing big or expensive anyone I buy for wants including me.

And here’s me curious about your possible dirty Christmas traditions. 😉

Bugger. Got enthused by a thread on here about someone whose child wants sellotape for Christmas. Somehow ordered that plus split pins, blu tack, and a glue gun for DD.
Now got to take the cat to the vet and dreading the cost (no insurance - not down to me I might add!)

I’ve twitched. Youngest has been asking for something horrendous and plastic and I was adamant I wasn’t going to get it because it is such a waste of money and so bad environmentally. But it’s the one thing he has repeatedly asked for and this week it was reduced by £8 so I impulse bought it to be from Father Christmas. Then had to get other child something else from on their list so got one thing but then found another thing from their list that has been out of stock everywhere and it’s more of an equivalent gift to the thing I’d got the youngest so got that too. Have moved things around a bit so that the first thing I’d got is now from gps (we have to buy on behalf of one set) and the thing I’d originally got from gps is now being held back until their birthday. I’m just not sure whether to hold back the original Father Christmas gifts (£12 and £15 value if that makes a difference )for birthdays or whether to say fuck it and let them have both!

I twitched again yesterday. My 5yo has somehow got it into her head that she is getting a new dress from Santa, no idea where this has come from but I thought I’d have a look for something, she dosnt actually need a new dress. I ended up getting her a 3 piece outfit and new sparkly headband, because the dozen or so ones we already have don’t quite match her Boxing Day dress. DD1 got a new pair of jeans, blazer & top, I also bought her makeup brushes online. DD2 a new blazer, accessories and a new book.
