Den building kit

So.... I'm looking at the kits with the balls and sticks to make a den. Please help!

They range from £10ish to £50ish.... does anybody know if you get what you pay for or if they're all the same?

I'd happily buy 2 or 3 if needed to get enough bits but I'd love recommendations if anybody has any.

My eldest is pretty tall, clothes size 11-12, so we need to be able to construct something tall enough for him to enjoy too.

we got 2 kits at about £50. you definitely need 2 or 3 kits to make big things. and lightweight fabric to drape over your den helps to - I got a fabric shower curtain because it is big & cheap & doesn't mind being left out in the garden occasionally.

Definitely don’t get the basic one from The Works as that kept falling apartment

Years ago we bought DS sets from EZ Fort. Sturdy, lasted and you could add to it. He built some fantastic stuff with it.

Echoing to stay away from the cheap ones that they do in The Works and Aldi. It's virtually impossible to get the poles to fix firmly into the balls so the whole thing keeps falling apart and by the time you have something useable you just want to stomp on the whole lot and hurl the fragments out of the window.

Ah we've got this one and it's great!

DS has had it for about 2-3 years now so I'm buying another set as he's too tall to stand up in his creations now (he's 6).

We build the fort, use cushions to 'brick' up the sides and some fabric over the top.

Thanks everyone! There's a 130 piece one on Amazon that I think looks good, although DH reckons the plastic balls won't be as good as some we've seen with foam ones? I have no idea

Thanks for this thread, it's given me a great idea for my DSs! I've just been looking on Amazon and at other reviews and the Crazy Forts one seems to get the most consistently good reviews (it's also sold in Smyths who usually sell decent quality things I find). Sort of tempted by the £12 the Works set but the reviews are very variable so not sure I want to risk it!

@neonleopard we've had identical
Days!
