One to get out (every year?) as something to do with the DC in the evenings? Looking for ideas as I'm totally uninspired by the ones I've seen.

We don't do Christmas jigsaws but Galison have some which you might like.

Every year! But not Christmas scenes, I usually have a Jan van Haasteren ( always has certain characters in, DC, both adults now still like 'helping' and DH only does the final piece). Ravensburg also do nice ranges.

Enjoy!

@VinoEsmeralda

you're kind, he'd get his hand slapped here!!

@SecondaryPreparation I don't have one that comes out every year, but there's always a jig saw on the go. I have a new one in the loft for this year, I don't remember much about it, only that it's a Christmas Scene. I bought it last year & it went into the loft with the Dec's. So it'll be a nice surprise!! 🤣

hanging out here though to see if anyone posts something I can resist!!

Inasec24 · 15/11/2022 18:10

Yes we do! It was from a charity shop - just a nice Christmassy scene

BobStrangeNameforaGirl · 13/11/2022 13:10

This is our first year and DD chose this.

@BobStrangeNameforaGirl Nice tradition to start. How old is your DD?

Tiredmumno1 · 15/11/2022 18:16

@Spirini I have this one it just zips up and gets put away until it's time to come out again hobbycraft

it's also got a fiver off at the mo.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 15/11/2022 18:18

We have this one up in the loft, usually only do puzzles once but might bring it down this year.

My parents have bought DD a Frida Kahlo one for Christmas, so hopefully she'll let me share!

Thomas Kinkade also do some nice puzzles.

Geamhradh · 15/11/2022 18:27

I've been looking and feeling uninspired so thank you for these lovely ideas! DD and I do one or two every Christmas and it'll be even better this year as it's her first visit home from university.
Last year I splashed out on Wentworth's but beautiful though they were, they were so easy to do (despite billing themselves as difficult) that they felt like a swizz, especially with how expensive they are.

Why does DH only do the final piece?

livingthegoodlife · 15/11/2022 18:40

We like the wasgij ones. They're funny with lots of detail, plus you get 2 in one box.

Holiday cats looks hard!

I love the idea of a Christmas jigsaw but unfortunately I don't have the table space to devote to one, any ideas of alternative solutions?

@Spirini

I have mine on a large board 'folder'. I 'think' it's meant to be an art board, it has elastic at the two top corners & I think it was from hobby craft. It slides under the sofa.

warning, balancing it on the footstool is likely to cause a row!!

We had a Wentworth one too and it took us a disconcertingly long time. I bought it in the Black Friday sale during Covid and so it arrived too late - I solemnly added it to the decorations in the loft and waited all year for it. We have one of the Wallace and Gromit ones.

Wherediditallgo · 15/11/2022 19:17

Dobbies have a good range usually.

Beetie1 · 15/11/2022 20:44

We have a few Wentworth jigsaws and love them. I have been eyeing up their Xmas ones.

Kayjay2018 · 15/11/2022 20:55

We always get my mum the Christmas Wasgij jigsaws, you don't actually know what the picture is going to be.

We are going to my mil for Christmas this year so going to borrow a puzzle and take it with us to do as a group

Duckskitbank · 15/11/2022 21:25

We have a Wentworth winter scene and I find it a nice challenge. Certainly no easier than all the Ravensburger puzzles we have.

Spirini · 15/11/2022 21:56

Thank you @SkylightSkylight and @Tiredmumno1 - you've given me a great, very budget friendly idea- I've a noticeboard in my office in work that has fallen off the wall and is lying in the corner, it was going to go in the bin but I'll ask can i take it home. It's a perfect size. I'll invest in one of those neat hobbycraft things after Christmas maybe.

Oh I'm excited now!

Longbarn5 · 15/11/2022 22:00

Lovd House of Puzzles. You can get them second hand on ebay

lightisnotwhite · 15/11/2022 22:10

We use to do this one at the start of December. Sure it had more than 100 pieces mind. It took years before we finished it by Christmas. The sky was the worst.

I have a big piece of correx board. Easy to move about as it's light. Slides under the sofa when I need the table space.

I have the Christmas alphabet one, and the I love Christmas. Can't wait!

Spirini · 15/11/2022 22:18

Maybe you used to do this one? @lightisnotwhite

Very similar, I can imagine the sky would be a bugger.

I use a jigsaw board thingy like this www.craftyarts.co.uk/ravensburger-puzzle-store-p5869
To be honest, the puzzle stays on the table once we’ve started it, which is always the day after Boxing Day, unless we have guests for a meal at which point they ‘help’ to complete it then its popped away under the sofa whilst we eat. My secret trick is to hide a few pieces so that I can be the one to finish it!!!
We dont do Christmas themed ones, my favourite of all time was a black and white Escher one with 2 hands drawing. Last year we did a Frida Kalho self portrait.
