Yes I have 2 hence the plural

What have been a success fkr your father's (or fil) over the years?

Mine have to go overseas so takes out subscription and books.

Both are widowed

My bio dad loves to read but not im English and books are really expensive in DK. He does little else as his health keeps him close to home. He enjoys good food but doesn't cook.

Bonus dad is into hurting and fishing. He is a competent cook but my mum was a chef so their kitchen is kitted out in everything possible.

In the past we have given
Photo books
Blanket
Gloves
Wool scarfs
Hats
Shirts

Food would not go down well with either of them.

My dad is also a keen hunter / fisher, some shoots he goes to he still needs to wear a tie so a variety of 'country ties' have always been popular.
Also portable metal shot glasses for when they have a dram 'to keep warm' - they came in a leather case and can fit in your pocket.

Oh he might like the metal shot glasses. He has loads of ties.. and bio dad never wears them.

Audiobooks susbscription for the other dad?

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 13/11/2022 00:00

When dad reached his nineties I had run out of ideas and decided to buy him a lovely warm gilet. He absolutely loved it and I thought we’d end up burying him in it! 😂. He was a bit parsimonious about his heating so would constantly wear it indoors and would have it on under his coat when he went out. He lived to ninety-four so I replaced it a couple of times and he was always pleased with his present.

Nice idea for others who may be watching but my dads are in Denmark. And audio books/books cost a fortune. Also I know he would not like the audio books he likes to read himself.

Depends on if he's near nature/ has someone local to set it up for him, if movement-restricted etc., but might your bio Dad enjoy the distractions of a clear window bird feeder (with one way mirror)?

Or a wireless bird box camera kit?

Danish version of this, maybe:

GoodVibesHere · 13/11/2022 19:23

An outdoor wall thermometer / barometer for the garden

GoodVibesHere · 13/11/2022 19:24
