My 9yo came up to me and said, mummy why do I have a sneaky suspicion that youreeeeee Father Christmas.
I answered as best I could without laughing, well All I know is that if you don't believe presents shall not be coming down one's chimney.

Now I'm left wondering if they actually believe as sometimes they act like they do, they say things like they remember when they saw father C in our house.
But the. They'll say things like mummy are you watching that's what I want FC to bring.
I've had a fantastic run that I've absolutely enjoyed, so I'm not bothered if they don't. Mainly asking because FC will start to bring substantially less presents if he's not real and I will start to get a bit more credit 😆

She's might still believe, that is definitely possible.
But the seed of doubt has been planted there so...

I remember when I first started to have that doubt and wondered if it was my dad

Ask why they think it. My DDs view is Santa is really Mum and Dad but the magic pretend but makes it fun.

My 9 year old started saying that he thought I was santa last year and obviously I denied it this year he's said the same but he's also told me that santa will be bringing him a particular present if I don't, so who knows what he believes.

My ten year old still believes. I overheard him chatting to his younger brother after last Christmas saying that FC must be true because the alternative theory is that mums and dads buy the presents, wrap them and put them under the tree pretending that they are from Santa, and who’d be crazy enough to do that Grin

I'm not sure if my 9YO DS1 believes or not. 7YO DS2 told me the other day that he thought Santa was just DH and I.

I didn't confirm or deny it. If anything I was more shocked he came out with it. DH and I had hoped to get one last Christmas with Santa. We'll probably have 'the chat' next year. Although DS2 still has a few baby teeth and is probably hoping for another £20 off the tooth fairy 🙄

Her rational brain doesn't believe,
But her creative brain still wants to believe.

You have 1 more year left.

After that she might pretend to believe, because she loves the bond it creates between you both, and she like all of us, wants to hold on to the Christmas magic.

I saw the ligths of a helicopter last night, and I drove along thinking it looks just like FC's sleigh ....(43).

Thank you all. I'm also wondering if she'll run along with it for the free presents too ha!
I'm loving the thoughts of the dc who believes that no mum and dad would go to such lengths and he's therefore real.

I am really hoping for this one last year. I love Christmas so much and feel so lucky to have had FC come down the chimney for real for at least 8 years including a magical trip to lapland which definitely extended the real FC time.

The seed of doubt has indeed been planted by some non believing friends who are adamant he's not real. Damn it.

@IwasToldThereWouldBeCake who needs a rational brain at Christmas time anyway. 🎅🏻

Obviously?

Our nine year old definitely believed.
His tenth birthday was just before Christmas and we said that as he was now in double digits, we weren't sure if Santa would still bring presents so we would buy them instead. Some time after Christmas he said the presents we bought were lovely and he didn't mean to sound ungrateful but the ones Santa brought were better. He was quite tearful. Aw
