Hello. I will be buying my 6 year old son a switch for christmas. Apart from mario cars and minecraft which is a must-what games do your kids love. I will be asking family members to buy him games :) Is just dance ok for this age...he loves dancing.

Mario Party is a big hit here with mine ages 5-10. Can play multi player and we often have game nights where the whole family will play together.

If he loves dancing then I'm sure Just Dance will be a hit. I love it but neither of my DC are bothered so it never gets played. DS1 just bought Super Mario Maker 2 and loves it, but he is 8 and I'm not sure if it might be a bit hard for a 6 year old. I'm not a gamer though so someone who knows better may come along to contradict me.

My soon to be 7 year old loves minecraft, Pokemon, mario odyssey, mario party, Nintendo sports. She does like just dance and animal crossing but she reaches for them less than the others.

As well as some of the games already mentioned, my DD likes Kirby and the Forgotten Land. I really like it too.

Shwighty1 · 26/10/2022 23:38

I would say Pokémon arceus is a bit advanced but sword or diamond would be ok, but I’d agree Kirby or just dance would probably be better.

slipperypenguin · 26/10/2022 23:38

Also some free games like rocket league if he doesn't already have them

PicsForCliques · 27/10/2022 07:23

I’d recommend the gift card to download the games straight onto the switch, the games are tiny and easily lost

Just dance is great. If he likes Mario he can do the Mario themed ones!

Mine like the SNES games that you here included with the online subscription as well.

Minecraft can be a bit challenging for a 6 year old, our very nearly 6 year old wants to go off by himself rather than following a sensible progression

mummyof2boys30 · 27/10/2022 22:28

Mario Odyssey and splatoon. My ds is getting mario all stars (discontinued so second hand) and luigi's mansion

YungDumbThrills · 27/10/2022 22:41

My 5 y/o loves all the mario games, specially 3D World. He's also got paw patrol games and spyro/crash bandicoot

Another vote for Mario Party, me and my sibling love it and our nephews can join in too _

Rubytinsleslippers · 28/10/2022 16:04

Animal crossing is fabulous - but quite a bit of reading so depends on if you play together or if it's solo for him.

spiderontheceiling · 28/10/2022 16:21

Check what the games require... do they need steering wheels or are they for more than 2 players and need extra controls? We ended up doing an Amazon order on Boxing Day for extra controls!

heymammy · 28/10/2022 16:48

Splatoon is a favourite here, there's a new one not long out. Also Fortnite, rocket league and minecraft.

BadgerLovesMash · 28/10/2022 19:36

We like Mario super smash bros and just dance here!
