Coffee maker thing

Please talk to me as if I know nothing about coffee makers. Because I mainly drink tea. I'm thinking pods /capsules

Id like to gift a coffee machine but the person it is for only shops at lidl and sometimes aldi (I know this because we share a love of these shops!) so what coffee machine could work with coffee pods/capsules or however they work. I know nothing about these, please someone spell it out Brew also, if relevant they have americano. They used to have a coffee machine which broke and they now use a French press.

Perhaps the friend liked the pods as only little bit of luxury they had so don't get airpress. Nespresso machine and pods sounds like this friend would appreciate it.

Yes I think you've hit the nail on the head. Personally I'm in the reduce waste camp, but if she is having just one coffee a day, she would appreciate a luxury type coffee.

I thought the Aeropress was a waste of money, it got chucked out.

Same here. Can't understand what people see in them.

If waste is a concern, we have a Dualit gadget that stamps the coffee out of a nespresso pod so you can recycle the metal container. Coffee grounds then go in compostable waste bin/on plants. If you search for “coffee pod recycling tool” it will come up.

I bought one for my son as he loves coffee and loves a gadget.
We both hated it.

I've got a dolce gusto piccolo which on offer are about £30 and aldi and lidl do the compatible pods. I only buy americano. £2.49 for 16 pods. Lidl ones closest to americano are called Lungo and they're so so good! Really quick and easy no messing about.
