If you can ask someone for a lovely gift (or wish you could) what would you ask for?

i have seen threads like this previously and got good suggestions like the Neom diffuser/ white Co dressing gown.

any ideas?

Cashmere hat and scarf in grey or fawn colour.
sanctuary wet moisturiser
New tote bag.

Vampirethriller · 19/10/2022 08:46

A shed. 7"5 with a big window.

NCAutumn · 19/10/2022 08:49

Why do people want lenor and fabulosa? Surely that's not a gift?!

I can't decide what I want this year but it's not cleaning products

Ragwort · 19/10/2022 08:57

Car valet service Grin.

NC I think what we each want as a gift is (obviously) very personal ... I much prefer practical gifts but I know a lot of people don't like them.

Actually we made a decision in our family to no longer exchange gifts, so much easier and much less pressure ... we are fortunate in that if I wanted a new jumper or book (for example) I could afford to buy it myself. The same for my DH, I don't want to have to choose some golf accessory for him.

But I suppose with a car valet service it would be lovely if someone (DH or DS ) just took the car for me to the car valet people ... or did it themselves Grin.

jtaeapa · 19/10/2022 08:58

I would just like a rest and some peace and quiet!

Prob best to ask recipient

HauntersGonnaHaunt · 19/10/2022 13:52

I want the Home Alone Lego house.

I'll probably get more candles or toiletries to add to the collection in the cupboard though. 😐

grayhairdontcare · 19/10/2022 14:07

The Alan Rickman diaries
Converse high tops
Dressing gown
Bubble bath

EndlessMagpies · 19/10/2022 14:33

A ticket to the Chelsea Flower Show.

Someone else to shop for, prepare and cook the Christmas dinner, and to clear up afterwards. While they are at it, they can do Boxing Day as well. Grin

I've asked my partner to pre-order a jamie campbell bower autograph from London comic con for me lol

A couple of raised beds with mesh covers for the veg patch. I will probably construct my own but it would be great to get the fancy ready-made ones.

A pp mentioned a professional car valet session. That would be lovely too.

ptsdmum · 20/10/2022 14:36

A heated throw
A new dressing gown, slippers too please
Or an oodie, pyjamas, you get the picture.
A heated wheat bag thing or nice hot water bottle and cover
A massage and/ or spa day or some kind of beauty treatment
A tattoo
A meal out to a nice Mexican restaurant
Some kind of gimmicky kitchen gadget, I'm a sucker for them!
An air fryer (I must be the last woman on Earth without one right!)
A makeup bag and brushes and sponges

ptsdmum · 20/10/2022 14:37

Oh yes silk scrunches and a silk pillowcase too please!
And some kind of hair curling apparatus that actually works and is easy to use (is there such a thing?)

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 20/10/2022 14:42

I just want some extra money to put into our holiday account. I am responsible for saving for the holiday account and I send every little thing I can into it. I'd rather have whatever DH was planning to spend on a gift in cash. DH always refuses because he says that the holiday money is for all of us not just me, but I really love travelling and like to make plans.

YuliaJollyberry · 21/10/2022 10:47

I’m really struggling for ideas this year. I was ill last Christmas so bagged my presents up and put them away in the wardrobe and haven’t really looked at them since, but I know I’ve got winter boots and some other lovely stuff in there.

All I can really think of is some new pyjamas, some Ugg socks, some fabric for quilting and a Terrys Chocolate orange.

My ideal present would be Sega Megadrive and some sonic games to relive my youth and time and peace to play them!

However on my real list are:

Books (Life undercover by Amaryllis Fox, Spies, Lies and whistleblowers by Annie Machon, and There's a war going on but no one can see it by Huib Modderkolk)

I did want an Ember mug but DH bought it for my birthday instead (apparently he was sick of me moaning about my coffee going cold!)

DC has bought me a mini arcade thing that plugs in to my pc and I can play space invaders whilst procrastinating (it will add variation to my mumsnet procrastination!)

GoSomewhereThatDoes · 21/10/2022 13:59

@MistyRock Long term illness. It has been a struggle to do much more than get out of bed and flop on the sofa to wfh most days and I just haven’t had the motivation or the energy to unpack it all and find new homes for everything.

Annoyed200722 · 22/10/2022 09:14

I'd love:

  • nice wet bag for paddleboarding
  • warm, fluffy dressing gown
  • L'Occitane almond bath oil
  • Royal Palaces Membership

These are hypothetical though, as we don't do adult presents. MIL will, but she won't ask!
