I have absolutely no clue what to buy them this year. I’m usually pretty good at this but this year I just dont know

can anyone provide some ideas and inspiration, what are you buying your children the same age?

Thanks!

What do they already have? Hard to suggest stuff if they've already got it. Have you asked them what they want?
Bikes, scooters, dolls, dolls house, toy kitchen, shop etc.
At that age I think they're happy with anything!

ListenLinda · 06/10/2022 07:39

Yes, DD wants a unicorn and DS wants spiderman 😂

They have a lovely range of things already, DD has a bike, DS does not yet but trying to spend an equal amount.

DD has the Barbie Campervan, dollshouse and LOL house, DS has plenty of dinosaurs, cars, nerf guns, paw patrol figures cars & the paw patroller,
between them they have jigsaws, books, figures such as avengers and barbies, teddys, lego.

They do have a wooden toy kitchen too, that’s shared.

"Yes, DD wants a unicorn and DS wants spiderman"

So get them that...

mama3bears · 06/10/2022 07:41

Bit hard to advise but how about taking them to a large toy shop such as Smyths Superstore and seeing what they're drawn to. Might give you some clues.

OnTheBrinkOfChange · 06/10/2022 07:46

You don't need to spend the same amount! It's good if some of the presents look the same size but kids don't know how much anything costs.

Get them a unicorn and a Spider-Man outfit. Don't worry about getting a big present. Often that's not what they play with anyway.

NameChange30 · 06/10/2022 07:47

Yoto mini for DD
Balance bike for DS

NameChange30 · 06/10/2022 07:48

Oh and last year I got DS a make your own den kit from hobbycraft, not too expensive and he's played with it loads. (He's 5.)

ListenLinda · 06/10/2022 09:41

Good idea about taking them to Smyths, just have to be firm to not buy them everything they want there and then 😅

Get a catalogue?!

Ive got my daughter the glowing lulliby unicorn - www.ebay.co.uk/p/2177100828

if you have room you can get big stuffed unicorns.

I got DS a few spiderman things including a spiderman space hopper and goo jit zu streach spiderman.

Needmorelego · 06/10/2022 09:53

They've told you what they want and getting unicorn and Spiderman toys is probably 2 of the easiest suggestions that kids can come up with 🤷🏻‍♂️

Abouttimemum · 06/10/2022 10:08

DS wants some popping candy and chocolate coins 🤷‍♀️
He’s 3 and we’re getting him a Vtech marble run, some Lego / or duplo and maybe a mini Yoto but might wait until his birthday for that. Couple of other things like etch a sketch and play doh. My parents might get him a playmobil dolls house.

He’s not really into characters at all. He’s obsessed with his Picasso magnets at the moment if that helps. Builds with them daily.

ListenLinda · 06/10/2022 12:22

@NameChange30 do smyths do catalogues? DH works for Argos, he said they were/are doing away with the catalogues for them as they weren’t cost effective

OP posts:
ListenLinda · 06/10/2022 12:24

@Needmorelego Yep, pretty sure DD is referring to a real unicorn but 😂

I just wanted ideas of a few things, one main present then stocking fillers kind of things.

we do it as the sack presents (2 or 3) are from Santa, the others from us and family.

Needmorelego · 06/10/2022 12:36

@ListenLinda well of course she wants a real unicorn....who doesn't 😂
But there are bucket loads of toy ones around.
Yes Smyths has a catalogue. It's 300 pages though. Be prepared for a lot of circling.

NameChange30 · 06/10/2022 12:43

Yes they do. I signed up a while back and it was delivered quite recently.

cooolio · 06/10/2022 12:44

I want a real unicorn but as that's impossible you'll have to order a smyths catalogue

Mummyme87 · 06/10/2022 12:44

my almost 5yr old wants Batman. Bat cave, bat Mobil, Batman hotwheels monster truck

ListenLinda · 06/10/2022 15:23

Thanks I have ordered one :)

Dd5 has been asking for a pet octopus since she could talk but alas
is getting 😁:
a gymnastics beam (been asking since February).

Maybe roller skates (might save those for her summer birthday).

Squishmallow, jigsaw, a few bits for her playmobil safari set. Hope the rainbow husky. Bead set for making bracelets.
Stocking will have headbands, club gymnastics key ring, , gel pens, colouring book, stationary bits & bobs, mini craft kit, swim goggles, frozen Pez dispenser, book, dog Top Trumps or a snap type card game.

ds3 is getting:
A farm, combine harvester, crop sprayer, squishmallow, hungry Hippo’s.

stocking so far:
farm animals, sticker/colouring book, swim goggles, Hot Wheels car, Olaf Pez dispenser, book, kaleidoscope.

He was getting a fire station but has been asking for a farm and specific vehicles for a while so that has gone away for birthday.
Grandma is getting Dd5 the requested Encanto Disney Lego set. She is getting Ds3 a bundle of Hot Wheels track.

Fresh01 · 06/10/2022 22:12

Playmobil has a range that includes unicorns. We had many years and lots of play out of the different Playmobil sets. 5 is a good age to start it.

Imaginext have a Batman range. We had some of the Imaginext toys and they were all well used.

For stocking fillers bath crayons, foaming coloured soap foam (Tesco and Boots have them), large wand and bubbles. Pavement chalk.

BEE08 · 08/10/2022 07:50

My DSD had a lama toy that made sounds as it walks, there was a unicorn version at the time a couple of years ago from Morrisons.

DS who is 3 is mainly getting:
playmobil police car and moterbike
playmobil prison set
vetch camera
dressing up box (I am making)
puzzle
game
art supplies

ListenLinda · 08/10/2022 09:06

Sounds fab suggestions here everyone, thank you :)

They’re a bit odd but purse pets has a unicorn version. My now 6 year old got a fox one last year and loves having her own little bag (even if it does have eyes and makes random noises!).
