Not doing Elf on a Shelf?

I've never done EOAS but my DC's grandmother has one that they see when they go to her house, she moves it about etc. I know I'd forget to move it and I don't really like the whole 'I'm watching you' thing. Does anyone else not do them? DC are 5&3.

We do it. It is about of fun and my child loves it. He doesn't spy, he just plays and does some low level mischief.

*a bit of

Nope not my thing not committing to do it. We do get letters from the Elf from company online, they are beautifully done and my DD6 loves reading them to us every morning. Much easier as all we have to do is leave one out for her each evening & frankly at times have forgotten to do that!

We don't do the elf here. With adult dd we'd never heard of it, with dgd it's a tradition dd has decided to skip I'm favourite of other traditions. Dgd has never asked about one either, I've a feeling not many have one in her class. I think lots of households in the uk have different christmas traditions so its up to you if you want this to be one of them.

Every family is different. I love doing it. I like a bit of fun and don't focus on the whole Santa is watching you I just do it as a game. Set an alarm on your phone each night if you want to do it but think you will forget.

This is me, I love doing it but it’s all about cheeky elf’s playing tricks and getting up to mischief. My 10yo was reminding me yesterday of all the stuff they’ve got up to over the years. There has never been any talk of them watching the dcs or reporting back to Santa, if anything we joke about telling Santa what they have been up to.

My DS is 3 and I think I'm going to do "Elf (very) Lite. We have a stuffed Elf and I may have the odd morning where there is a craft or baking kit next to it. We also put our letter to santa next to the Elf and it's gone by morning.

If DS decides to believe that the Elf is magical, I may ramp it up. But I'm not going to tell him it is
