Having a family Christmas celebration a few days before Christmas itself. Can anyone recommend a good dessert- something special to serve 12. Can’t be Christmas pud or Yule log unfortunately as we’re having those on other days. Nothing boozey as there will be small children.

Thank you.

I would probably go with trifle but the Ivy's iced berries with white chocolate sauce usually makes its way onto a "non-Christmas day Christmas dinner" menu at some point over the Christmas period in our house. So simple, quick to make, and loved by kids and adults alike. It feels and looks wintery too 😂

It works with plain/milk chocolate and frozen tangerine/satsuma segments too or any frozen fruit that is small enough to be mostly thawed by the hot chocolate sauce.

Oh amazing, so many good ideas! Thank you. Love the idea of a trifle because it always makes me think of this -

That baked Alaska looks amazing as well, or profiteroles!

Don't know why my message didn't publish 🙄

What I say was that that page/book is a trip down memory lane!

My mum does home made sticky toffee puddings for Christmas Day. She has for as long as I remember so I imagine it's a very old delia recipe Grin I bloody love it though!

Nigella Lawson chocolate bread and butter pudding. Can be made 2/3 days in advance which is handy and tastes amazing

This thread is NOT good for my waistline.

Rice pudding? Just use a larger dish and scale it up. Serve with whatever poached fruit you can get cheaply. It all cooks ahead, too.
