I am looking for help buying advent calendars for this Christmas. I am thinking about treating us and stepping away from the traditional daily chocolate mould ones.

Dd 11
Dh - mid 40s
Me - mid 40s

Thanks so much

I'd like to do a homemade one for my just 2 year old granddaughter. Any ideas that are inexpensive besides chocolate?

Toy car, socks with her favorite thing on them, hair tie or hair slide, seeds, light up bouncy ball, blowing bubbles, bath bomb, rubber duck, balloon, Duplo figurine, magnifying glass, hot chocolate bomb, stickers...

whimsicalwillow · 25/09/2022 17:35

@BlackberryCat thanks, some great ideas. Funnily enough I bought bubbles and light up bouncy ball this morning for her stocking!

Every year my DH buys me the hotel chocolat one and I love it! 🥰

I highly recommend the Reese’s Pieces one- lots of nice little variations (obvs if you like/can eat peanut butter!).

My kind of advent calander! Mil used to buy me pricey beauty ones by my favourite brands, but honestly 80% of it was thrown in a drawer, absolutely no wastage with a chocolate one, I trainers hard all year and December I treat myself.

I was given the L'occitane one for Christmas 2020 and absolutely loved it!! Got one for dm's November birthday this year so hope she likes it too!

We're getting the Degustabox one for the 3rd year running. We really enjoy it!

PurplePeach62 · 29/09/2022 05:18

I found the half price Prosecco one in Aldi last year about 10th December- I didn't half enjoy catching up to get to the right date 😊

LIC1985 · 29/09/2022 06:30

Has anyone seen any coffee pod ones on offer anywhere? That's what I want to treat myself to this year

So far I've just got toddler DS one . He's 2.5 and I think he's going to love this one

What kind of things are in it? I can't see very well from the website.

UpsyDaisysarmpit · 29/09/2022 10:23

@Zonder , if you do a search on YouTube lots have done unboxings on there with the 2021 and 2020 contents. It's full sized food products - last year we got a very interesting range!

I can never understand grown adults having advent calendars... Perhaps I'm just a different generation

I gave mil one the year she was 89 she loved it. So no I don't think you are a different generation.

Poppins17 · 29/09/2022 15:12

I’ve ordered my mom the blue body shop one.. think it’s retails for £89 but I’ve bought it from a local consultant for £44.

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 29/09/2022 19:25

Dd 10 has a mini brands one and a smiggle ( one is classed as a Christmas present)
DS 14 is getting a lynx one.
they also get one chocolate one each. Still to be decided on that

user6497219 · 29/09/2022 19:27

My Bonne Maman jam one arrived yesterday, I order it each year and I'm quite old

DoodlePug · 29/09/2022 19:30

The funko pop ones are great for kids. Or lego if you prefer.

Alcohol advent calendars are great, I get DH a beer one every year.

Personally I like chocolate so a hotel chocolate one is good altho might try a beauty one this year.

DoodlePug · 29/09/2022 19:32

If anyone is looking to do a DIY one lots of people sell their empty beauty advent on ebay. Usually 25 decent little boxes in a nice container.

ElbowsandArses · 29/09/2022 19:33

I had the pact coffee one last year and I loved every minute of it. Was my best Christmas present by a street mile. Have also enjoyed the pukka tea one. Enjoyed the advent of change one too.

iRun2eatCake · 29/09/2022 19:42

I got my sister the rubber duck one last year. It was so cute! Got my Mum a gardening one.

This year Pringles and a crossword one

Tantric · 29/09/2022 19:43

Whisky ones are a favourite with me. Helps take the edge off the last truly downhill mess of December and its incessant advertising of family happiness and concord. Maybe the advent calendar should start now in September?

Bonne Maman's advent calendar is now available.

Oooo. I love this. I got my DH the Brewdog one and have got DS's lego ones, colouring in ones. I once got a posh tea bag one for work. That was great. I always like the look of the cheese ones too. Last year DH got me the Aldi wine one which was a bit disappointing as most of the wine was crap 🤣

7eleven · 29/09/2022 20:16

I’ve ordered the look fantastic one.

The Brewdog calendar is huge, and I mean huge. The surprise one I've bought DP has just arrived and I can't even fit it under my desk. I've lied and said it was something his DSister had delivered here for DNiece and need to find a hiding place soon 😂
