Oodies- worth the hype?

We are a family of 6 so it's a hefty outlay, but am thinking of getting oodies for Christmas.

For those who have them, how do you rate them?

Love mine. In fact we’ve all got them, they’re long and come down past my knees. Loads of room in them to snuggle. They can get warm, I’ve fallen asleep in mine and woken up soggy. I was mine regularly and either line dry or over an airer. I do give it an extra spin too.

bought DP one from the 5poundstore, he got a kudd.ly one and I could even tell how much better Oodie are in comparison. Oodie are bigger, longer and thicker, in my opinion over the Kudd.ly one we got - glad we didn’t pay full price.

I bought two kids oodies in the summer sale and they’re nowhere near as thick as the adult one - maybe for safety? Kids love them and have started wearing them as it cools down.

think I’ll buy myself another this year as I do feel snug in them.

I bought one in the summer and tbh I think I’d probably prefer a thinner one. It’s ridiculously thick and at my age I’m probably going to be sweating come the winter when I start wearing it.

Also because it came vacuum packed it had an awful smell about it 🤮 I had to wash it to get the smell out and like BeyondMyWits says it absorbs so much water, it took ages to dry even during the bloody heat wave!!

Not RTFT but came on to say they are AMAZING. I bought the bundle of 6 for Xmas 2020 (me, 3 kids and 2 presents - DH is a hot person already) and they are still looking so great (despite lots of washing). They are so, so warm- much warmer than the dupes/ other makes (although Kuddly are as good, I hear).

I never have mine off. You definitely get what you pay for.

Amazon have a zip fronted one, so much easier for getting on & off.

Paddingtonthebear · 24/09/2022 19:16

Here we have an Oodie, a Sienna from Amazon and a kids Disney Snuddie from Primark. They are all good but the oodie is way thicker and more luxe, the one from Primark is 2nd thickest.

Did you get the dog tooth checked one? I did I look like cruella deville after she's been at the pies 😃

They are fantastic however they don't wash well at all. I like to wash mine fairly regularly and the inside is all bobbly and feels horrible now to the point that I don't really wear it anymore so I wouldn't buy another one.

TheChosenTwo · 24/09/2022 20:23

My dc have the branded oodies and two of them also have Amazon knockoffs. The differences are obvious but they do like them all, the oodies are way thicker and heavier. The Amazon ones are much more lightweight and not as long.

jollygoose · 24/09/2022 20:26

Just got one and I am sat in it now and love it I am warm as toast definitely worth the money.

catscutewhiskers · 24/09/2022 20:48

I bought 4x kuddly's for £99 earlier this year. Cheaper but I think supposedly similar quality.

AsterixInEngland · 24/09/2022 20:58

I have a Kuddly too. Very warm and confortable. Sometimes too warm!
i love the fact they are quite heavy. Makes it feel really cozy.

i dint think the primary ones are as good. They’re lighter and won’t keep you as warm.

however, I’d buy them when they are on sale/special offer.

BatteryPoweredMammy · 24/09/2022 21:52

No idea how good they are but I wasn't paying that much for a simply oversized hoody.

I made one for 11yr old DS a couple of years ago with good quality fabric I bought from Holland. He wore it to death so I'm planning to make another one soon.
