Pros and cons of pre-lit tree

I need a new tree this year, probably 7ft.

I've seen a couple of pre-lit ones on Dunelm.

I've never had pre-lit before, so not sure about them. Do they generally last well? Or would I buy better to buy unlit and separate lights?

Untangling and placement of string lights is a faff, so I do like the idea of pre-lit, in theory.

We have a 7’ pre lit Balsam Hill tree and it’s excellent , the lights are really well spaced and it’s very easy to put up and down .

I love my pre - lit tree. We've had it 7 or 8 years and still looks fab. It is so easy to put up and the lights are all spread out evenly and dont get tangled. It wasn't even an expensive one- picked it up in the supermarket when we realised our previous tree had disappeared in a house move!

Artificial trees are an abonimation. Yes even the expensive ones. Get a real tree. That was a con. There are no pros.

We had a tiny artificial prelit tree from dunelm last year as the real ones just took over our room and seemed such a waste. It's lovely 😁. So much more manageable . Also put a prelit artificial wreath up along a beam and the room looked lovely.

We ve had our artificial tree for forty one years. That’s forty one trees not sawn off at the base to die slowly in a heated room.

If you have a Costco membership or know someone that does, I can recommend their 7.5ft pre lit tree. Much cheaper than balsam hill & very robust. The lights can be clear or coloured & have 7 different cycles.

I love our pre lit tree (although it's too big but that was DH's fault!!!). The only con I suppose is one day I might fancy coloured lights instead, but I suppose in that case I can just get some to put on the tree.
