Your 2 year old's favourite Christmas presents

DS will be 2 this Christmas, most presents from us will be 'sensible gifts' like clothes and books, and he'll get all sorts from friends and family.
However I'm stumped for his 1-2 main presents.
He's super active, sociable and always on the go or climbing something.
We don't have a huge garden so confined a bit on outdoor presents that are huge in size.

What did your 2 year old love? Give me some inspiration MN hive mind.

Our 2yo's favourite toy is magnetiles - we have connetix ones and they currently have a sale on. Hours of fun.

B Toys Wheels set of 4 chunky pull back vehicles.

BritInAus · 06/09/2022 01:22

What about a piece of climbing equipment that doesn't have a large footprint - the TP explorer type one?
Mini scooter also great from 2.
At 2 my DD's fave - that I now get for any 2 year olds - was one of those wooden birthday cakes with velcro that you can 'chop' up - not a main present I know - but it got so much use.

Last year we got DS a toy kitchen and a doll and pushchair. He loves them and "baby" is his favourite toy. We got him the little tikes car for his 2nd birthday

An indoor tent/teepee (for a girl)

ConfusedConfused

Why a girl???

bluechameleon · 06/09/2022 07:25

Easel, sand pit, toy kitchen stuff, dolls house (maybe 3 is better for dolls house actually?), garage, farm

purplebells · 06/09/2022 14:52

As above! Sorry it came out wrong - i didn't mean it can only be for a girl. I meant my 2 yo girl really loved a teepee that we got her. I'm pretty sure boys would like it too but just was meaning that my girl loves it. I don't have boys so not sure if 2 yo boys so just wanted to clarify in case OP thinks it makes a difference (I don't!)

Stickle bricks!! Without doubt the most popular gift from last year and played with every single day since. I always have a few in my bag for meals out/ doctors waiting rooms etc and he never tires of them.
Also a balance bike which he really got the hang of in the spring (was 2 in jan).
He loves any toy vehicles too.

GAW19 · 06/09/2022 21:06

We got DD a balance bike & helmet 😊

Ours also loved the IKEA kitchen, still plays with it now she's nearly 5.

verytired42 · 06/09/2022 21:12

My son’s top toys aged 2/2.5 were: ikea kitchen - this is a good one - you can fill with accessories which are wrapped for maximum excitement. Played with for four years. Melissa and Doug cleaning set. Still hanging onto it after 5 years and played with by visitors. Magnatiles - get a reasonably big set if main present. Endless fun. Still have, still played with 5 years later. Duplo building site - has stuff to build and stuff which can be played with as toys once built. Paw patrol figures and vehicles. Ride on motorbike.

In all honesty it was bath crayons and a small flashing rubber ball.

Stompythedinosaur · 07/09/2022 18:30

Runaway1 · 07/09/2022 21:54

SausageMonkey2 · 07/09/2022 21:57

Yoto box

DarkDarkNight · 07/09/2022 21:59

Balance bike. Also my son had a sandpit around that age is and loved it, but he got it for his birthday in summer when the weather was better.

idontknow54789 · 07/09/2022 22:19

Wooden train track - doesn't have to be brio but electric trains are great. This is our most played with toy for years by both DCs
Duplo
Balance bike/scooter
Paint sticks
Playmobil - the farm is a particular hit
Fire engine
Ice cream set
Play kitchen

Ancfib · 08/09/2022 06:03

I agree with Brio too! My daughter has tonnes of it and my youngest loves it too, she get expansion packs from family which is great Because it's expensive, then I can shove it all in one bucket! Haha instead of millions of random bits.

Also Duplo? Another great one which has expansion packs.

I am getting my 2 year old for her birthday an aqua doodle / aqua mat!

If you like wooden toys, babipur do fantastic wooden stacking and building toys. All so beautiful and my girls love them. They really last, my eldest who is 6 still loves to build with her blocks.
